Can my city water be this good??

I've been using ph adjusted distilled for seedlings, never considered testing my tap but wow, using an HM Digital easy TDS tester I get 45-47 TDS, and 7.0-7.2 ph using their $60 ph tester. Can it be this good? Both units are brand new.

Why would you want to introduce variables into the equation? Regardless of the fact that city water is going to differ in quality each time you test it, you don't know what could be in that stuff, things that you can't even see. Antibiotics, heavy metals, toxins, etc. These are all things that are going to end up in your smoke, and eventually, you.

You're spending your valuable time, money and risking your personaly safety to grow plants... Why not just spend a few extra dollars to buy some distilled water and pH up/down? A gallon of distilled water near me is 89 cents, multiply that by the plant's entire life cycle and you'd probably spend less than a trip to mcdonald's.With the distilled water, you know what you're getting- a highly pure substance that you can control and can feel good about using on the plants you're going to consume yourself. With anything else, you're playing a guessing game and reducing the quality of your bud 9 times out of 10. Just my 2 cents.

I can understand the need for distilled water to ensure stability/quality of water. Lord knows with the amount of rainfall my area has seen recently it can the water treatment facilities do things i'm not impressed with honestly. Here they add chlorine to the water i believe which imho is better than chloramines (which require sodium thiosulfate type applications to remove) Allowing 24-36 hours of the water breathing with the chlorine with evap out in my experiance. I'd like to use distilled water if i could find it locally in 5 gallon conatiners, i was ignorant to the whole r/o system and its need for a shit ton of water to make one unit of r/o, that and it requires you readding vital minerals back into the r/o because it's stripped bare of all of them in the initial r/o process(get fucken pricey). Having water like that is such a blessing though op. congrats on that.

Lol.
Bro id need about 120 gallons a day. I dont have time to ph and certainly im not gonna go carry a bunch to each grow house. I want a little chlorine, my setup is automated reading the moisture in the soil and its stored in drums. Distilled with nutes goes bad very quickly. Distilled perod goes bad quickly.

I used distilled when i first started and didnt know better

And im not sure how new you are, hopefully you are.. being heavy in chemistry i understand where your coming from. But theres nothing bad in tap water, certainly not at high enough ppm to matter. I dont feel the need to ph, no deficiency. My soil is good and buffers. Chlorine and metals are trace nutrients. Its hardly a "variable" that effects your grow. You will get much more of anything in you just breathing in the earths polluted air or drinking and eating nearly anything.

Nothing bad in tap water huh? So I guess bacteria, lead, copper, antibiotics, disinfectants, nitrates, arsenicl, and of course, chlorine (which stunts root growth mind you), are just dandy then? These are not removed. And yes, they will reduce the quality of your yield and the buds will not taste as good from the buildup of chemicals which the plant has been soaking up every single day since germination...

This is not to say that every bit of tap water from any given place will be as bad as any other, yes areas vary and some are a lot worse. However,un-pH'ed tap water is not what you should be using for your plants... Every time you're using an uncontrolled substance on your plants, you're adding variables. Once something goes wrong, you're going to have a much harder time trying to figure out what it is. This is not to say that simply using tap water is going to kill your plants or something, but it's just another variable in dozens and dozens of variables that effect the outcome of your plant. Again, can you still grow good bud by using the shittiest tap water in the country? Probably. Would it have been better with the purest water in the country? Definitely.

Lemme guess your gonna flush your growing medium as well near the end of harvest

Cough cough..your newb is showing

I love them commercials btw
So, let me get this straight, you actually think you're improving the quality of your smoke by NOT flushing the plant and removing excess nutrients in days prior to harvest? Um... Okay. Enjoy your shitty buds mate.

Dude. It's city water, safe for human consumption. I don't think you'll get sick from watering your plants with it, lol

He talks about approaching things from a point of science and chemistry and doesn't even understand the concept of flushing lol... His buds are probably harsh as fuck.

Do you have roots? Do you soak your roots in chlorine that prevent them from growing and absorbing nutrients as well? No. Because you're not a plant.

You're missing the point entirely. Each time you're using a substance with unknown composition, you're increasing the chance of something going wrong. A true grower leaves nothing to chance, using only the best resources available. Also, I don't know about you, but I don't drink tap water, the shit is disgusting. If you do, good for you, but I wouldn't put it in me, and sure as hell not on my plants. You could easily damage the roots, stunt growth, introduce a dangerous bacterium, or simply make your bud taste/smoke/smell worse. Sorry, them's the facts.

You're damn near perfect with that water. Tap water is generally fine just make sure you check it before using it. I was using just tap, it was consistently around 150ppm, but now my tap goes from around 150ppm up to 400ppm depending on the day. There has been a lot of water main work in town for the last couple months stirring crap up. In my situation i had to keep a bunch of bottled water on hand in case there was a bad water day, i ended up getting a filter.

I don't flush and I do use city water. No one complains about harsh taste.

You DO know that small amounts of chlorine are standard iterating procedure in many people's RDWC systems, right? Works fine.

The idea that you say these things and then try to make fun of other people's knowledge of chemistry is pretty funny!
