Can money buy happiness?

What's your opinion?

I think true happiness comes from things you can't buy, like relationships. You can't buy the trust that comes from a lifelong friendship, you can't buy the companionship that comes from real work and commitment, you can't buy the honesty that comes from years of loyalty and devotion..

But, do you need these things to be happy?

Could you be a happy person with millions of dollars never having to worry about the electricity bill or tomorrows dinner? Truly happy. Does it matter how long it lasts? Is 'happiness' more than that? More than being clothed and fed, more than being able to play COD or tune into Netflix anytime you want?

I know that if I had millions of dollars, I'd use it to start charities to help people in need. Besides, being an eccentric rich philanthropist sounds like fun...

But yeah, if I know I'm making a difference in people's lives, and making my corner of the world a better place, I could be happy.

It's all what you do with your money...Of course if you're selfish and self centered, you'll be miserable.

I've seen a study stating that yes, money does cause happiness. But only up to a certain point. Eventually managing your substantial wealth becomes stressful and burdensome. Your friends, and family come asking for hand outs. You question who are your real close ones.

I've lived in both financial extremes. To me, once security issues are met, money doesn't impact happiness that much. I do know that money, particularly in the form of a sudden windfall, has devastated a lot of people. It can steal your soul. There's also a lot of work and responsibility, and a certain amount of stress that comes with having a lot of resources. Definitely better to have than not, but happiness primarily comes from what's in your heart.

money would bring me a lot more peace by removing financial problems and making me feel good to spread it around, but the things that are making me unhappy now would continue to make me unhappy if i had a lot of money. most of the things that are wrong with my life couldn't be fixed with a pile of cash. money wouldn't fix my social life, it wouldn't lessen any mental problems, it wouldn't stop complete strangers from making me want to vomit, it wouldn't fix the things i think are wrong with the world. it would probably make me even more of a hermit than i already am. a stack of infinitely paid bills and anything i want does sound nice though, but honestly i'd be happy with a ball of string and some legos.

thats a funny question. but happiness comes from within ones self.. if you think your happy.... well... your happy. money can only bring material things.. which you DON'T need. God given things such as MARIJUANA can alter the mind to create positive thoughts but cant really make you happy but at least if given from the almighty(for us). but YES its the love and compassion you give and get from one another that makes one TRULEY happy. Until you can see that you'll be fooled time and time again by who no's what! The only way for EVERYONE to be happy is to UNITE!!! but people cant even get along on here, a website where people come for help, guidance, and enjoyment. people are a joke and we should all feel ashamed! I DO and i didn't do anything! that may very well be the problem. one of them at least! i could go on for DAYS! but i wont...:weed:

money..... ive become addicted to it.... im pretty sure holding fat sums of cash in my hand makes my brain release some level of dopamine.... in this day and age you need it to survive... food/shelter are a must.... not too many people just livng off the land these days... i would think if there were the world would be a much simpler place.. people shouldnt have to worry about were there next meal comes from but thats how it is. does money buy happiness? yes to a strong degree.. money will make sure ur fed, a roof over your head, have running water and electricity, seems like anything realy cool to do u need money for... money will get u laid.. money will make people like u more.. but also others like u less {haters} ....

on the flip side... money is the root of all evil... it breaks families and friends apart... people do outrages shit for money.... people sell there souls for money... nd when u think about it whats money really.... its just some denim paper with ink.... and isnt it absurd that just by having this paper some live much much better lives then others... they go to better schools, and drive better cars, and live in much nicer homes, and eat much better quality food, people with this denim paper as much less likely to go to prison then a poorer person.... they hire much better attornies who play golf with judges on weekends and used to be prosecuters...

bottom line is money in this day and age makes life soo much more bearable and fun and more worth living.... not too many rich people commit suicide... lol that is untill they lose all there assets....

you just gotta find what makes your quality of ife better... and this will vary widely from person to person.... but money is one of those things we all need...

Money is not everything it's no good having loads of money if your to ill and miserable to spend it! However it does make life much easier if you've got money, when my kids were little we had no money my husband was a self employed builder and was layed off more than he was working, times were hard but when he got a job with better prospects and we had more money we really appreciated it. I would enjoy helping my kids if I had money to spare like paying their mortgages off and nice holidays. I would also give a lot to charities and helping animals that would give me great pleasure. So money is good it can make life easier, but just money is not so good when your not well or you have no one to share it with, and its enjoyed a lot more when you have never had much because you appreciate it a lot more. Sometimes it makes people horrible and look down on those that don't have any, I would like to say the best things in life are free but unfortunately theirs not much in this life that is free everything's got a price

Money buys stuff. That's all.

and the majority of "stuff" it does buy... is not a NEED it's a want...
the more we have access too.. the more we want stuff that we dont really need.. take some of the tribal regions around the world.. These people are no more and NO less happy then we (speaking for the US) are..

Infact I would wager to bet that we are LESS happy... we see crap on tv and go......... OHHHHHHHHHHH I want that... and then have to work a 40 hour job to go buy this crap..

There are very few items we actually NEED
food
water
shelter
air
weed.
