I am rather new to indoor stuff and do ok with my soil stuff - but due to not having that 1 person I trust enough close by to assist when I must leave for a spell - the water timer systems are too risky for me to rely on them - lost all but these 2 mentioned below - I have most everything to make the switch to a DWC system - I just wondering if my current 2 plants almost root bound in 1/2 gallon ice cream containers starters can be switched to the DWC someway ? and if any of ya can help me / point me to some info - Also how do ya get seeds into the DWC ? Grow it out in dirt and clone it ? - even us oldcrabs ask advice before failures LOL thanks everyone in advance - and I am sure i will have a few questions as the arise

I've done it with young plants, into dwc from soil, and from soil to dwc. Going from hydro to dirt the plant was badly stunted, dirt to dwc was without problems. Keep in mind these were small plants, the soil plant that went to dwc was only in a 16oz pot. I basically kept the soil out of the solution, and top watered it untill the roots reached the solution.

Try your best to soaks most of the dirt loose first. Organic material into the soup isn't good. This was how I did my first bubble bucket and no problems.

Then root your cuttings in pure vermiculite. It is perfect for the job and rinses off the roots easily. It's inorganic so any remaining is not an issue.
