Looks halogen to me, therefore I wouldn't use it. The spectrum of light it produces is not good for growing, and it puts off lots of heat. Personally if you want some side lighting then use some clfs.

they are stretching kind of bad, get the lighting as close as possible w/o burning the plants. If you can hold the back of your hand where the top of the plant is and it doesnt get uncomfortabley warm after 30-60 seconds its safe. How often and how much have you been watering and have you been watering around the sides as well?
Halogen are weak as hell and almost all the energy they use is put out as heat, so not only do you have a very weak light source that needs to be very close to the plant to have any effect, youve also got one that puts out most of its energy as heat preventing it from being put close enough to matter w/o burning the plant. I wouldnt even bother with it.

ok so i should just take it out and get some cfls or somethin? and im watering about every 2 days, is this too little?
would i really need to get more lights or is it good with just that 120 watt cfl bulb in the reflector?

I agree with darkdestruction420, if that's what you're asking.

closer bulbs = more light
more bulbs = more light

more light = more better

So, however you can manage it:

More Bulbs + More Closer = More Better More Better

EDIT: Also, I recommend you look into "Low Stress Training" (or LST) your girl.

fasho for the help, so would you suggest for me to keep that desklamp in there or should i take that out and get some more cfls?
and also tomorrow hits 4 weeks being in vegatative state, should i put it into flowering or wait another week?
and how often should i be watering?

Yes, more CFLs, and no halogen/incandescent.

Water only as often as it takes for the soil to dry out (not completely) and no more. Your girl is telling me she's being watered just fine, so however you've been doing, keep doing it that way.

I'd "LST" and let it veg for another week or two.

Havent been online a few days. Sorry. Here's how to tell when you should water. I think its the easiest and most accurate method by far and would do it no other way. I didnt write it personally but they describe it perfectly just the same as i would describe it. All credit goes to original author-

What is the "lift the pot" method?

Added by: 10k

The "lift the pot" method is a widely practiced, and very accurate method of knowing when to water your container plants.

The best way imho, to know when soil grown potted plants need more watering is by checking how heavy the pots feel. This method is very simple to learn once you get the feel for how light a ready for watering pot of soil feels.

Get an equal size pot and fill it with your soil. The medium should be about as moist as a new bag of potting soil. Use this planter as a learning tool to get a rough idea of how much the pots should weigh before watering again. The pots with your plants will feel only just slightly heavier when the soil is ready for more water. Pick up one of your planted pots, if its noticably heavy, do not water it until it feels "light". Next time you water a planter, pick it up and feel how much heavier it feels compared to the sample pot of soil.

It only takes a few times picking up the pots until this skill is like a "second nature" to you. You wont even need the sample pot after you get accustomed to the lifting method.

Sure your plants are always putting on more weight as they grow larger, but once you're proficient at lifting the pots, you'll also know how to compensate for the weight of the plants with ease.

I dont know how to better explain this method of knowing when to water, but believe me, anyone who learns this method, will always know when its time to water. "

I wouldnt bother with the desk lamp at all. More cfls are always better as long as temps are good. When to flower depends on a few things-how big your area is and how large of a plant you plan to grow overall are the biggest, waiting till a plant is mature if possible is another(but space can be an issue so yo may have to start flowering before a plants mature). a plant will get about 2-3 times larger than it size when it starts the stretch phase of flowering by the end of the stretch phase. i plan on 3 times bigger myself. if a plant is put into 12/12 before its mature and ready to start flowering it will have to force mature itself so the start of the stretch phase of flowering is delayed while its getting itself ready. so that also needs to be considered.

Halogen .. dont use it get a few more cfl's if you can.. that bulb is just gonna heat everything up more and not really help the plant
