your better off sitting it by a window in your house...that light will not work, you either need a ton more of them OR you need a HPS light either way that one bulb will stretch your plant like gumby lol

You can get cheap cfl's with 6500k light spectrum for the veg cycle.

That light would probably have a temp of around 2700-3200k and thus promote stem and root growth and make your plant stretch and fall over eventually, as mentioned.

So short answer, no, it won't really help unless you just want a little additional light for flowering

yeah it'll grow it, just not very well... go get a 4 pack of 23 watt (100 watt equivalent) CFL;s from walmart, it will cost you between 6 and 7 dollars for all 4, and you can actually grow a plant with that. don't expect a big yield but you'll get some buds.

you would need way too many for it to even be worth it. set it by a window during the day and go by walmart and buy some cfls. they are cheap and make them in much larger than 18 watts.

EDIT

i know you said not to tell you to go get a new one but that one just wont cut it. it would not be strong enough to grow the plant. heres a link to the page on cfls in the growfaq. it has everything on them. how many watts you need. which ones to buy. and anything else you could want to know

It's not fair to put up an inferior product and ask people not to say it's inferior.

Can you use it? Yes.
Will it yield well? No.
Will the buds be dense and dank? No.
Should you get a new one? Yes.

That is simply not enough light for even one plant to thrive and flower well.

This may not be the answer you want to hear, but it's the truth. Jus because you found it, doesn't mean you should use it. Growing pot requires the sun, or intense artificial light. 40+ years of indoor cannabis cultivators aren't wrong on this one.

the biggest i have seen is 200 watts. you will have a hard time finding these though unless you order them online. 1000 bulbs sells them in sizes ranging from 2 to 200 and they are pretty fairly priced.

for one plant? you will want around 100 watts for veg and 200 for flower.

you want cool white for veg(they are blue) and warm white(they are red) for flower.

why can you only get 2 of them again?

if you only have sockets for 2 lights you can get some y splitters while at lowes. this will turn your 2 sockets into 4 giving you room for more bulbs. it would be better to get 4 of each type of bulb(blue and red) that are like 26 watts than two big ones. mostly because i dont think lowes carries them in big enough watts for you to just have 2 lights.
