Sphagnum Peat Moss is regarded by both professional growers and experienced retail consumers as an optimal soil conditioner. Sphagnum Peat Moss is a partially decomposed Sphagnum species, whose unique cellular structure consists of large cavities that absorb air and water like a sponge (Peat Moss can hold many times its weight in water). Because the right balance of air and water is essential for root development and plant growth, organic sphagnum peat moss is considered the highest quality growing medium available. Manitoba Sphagnum Peat Moss is regarded by a majority of Western Region Growers as simply the best growing media available due to its fibrous nature, light color, high porosity and water holding capacity, low pH and bulk density.Just wondering -- if i put some lime in it and the correct nutes would it work?
That's the main ingredient in popular soil less mixes like Pro Mix and Sunshine Mix. I don't recommend it as a bale of manufactured mix is reasonable with the PH dialed in perfect. I use Pro Mix HP myself.Just wondering -- if i put some lime in it and the correct nutes would it work?
I use Pro Mix HP myself.
yeah, and the chunks are bigger too I believe.Ive been using Pro Mix BX, Is teh only diff in BX and HP more perlite? thx
how about Sunshine #4 mix ?REason i asked is home depot doesnt carry pro mix anymore .
maybe they'll restock it for the spring/summer gardening season, until then I'd go with the miracle grow and cut it with an equal volume of perlite. You can recycle the perlite after your grow by dumping the soil in a tub of water and skiming it off (it floats !)no sunshine mix ar home depot-- its teh onyl store really neer me.. all they ahve is miricle grow.
