Yea dude you can bloom with weak ass cfls if you have too. A 1000 watt mh in addition to your hps would add some great extra light!

See the problem is ill only be using the 1000 watt mh as i dont have enough room for 2 lights in the same area. It should still be fine shouldnt? Thanks

Of course....and your plant will still grow full and healthy provided all your conditions are being met. Grow lights are designed to produce the type of light a plant needs to grow. Of course, for the best possible light plants use HPS for blooming but metal halide will work just fine.

Many people will say plants definately grow bigger with HPS during bloom. These are the same people who did not set up a controlled test and see the same strain, under the exact same conditions side by side.

The bottom line is you can definately use MH.

Hope this helps.

i think it might take longer to harvest and from what i have seen a slight yield decrease anybody else think the same?

yea a little less yeild but still a worthy ending product!

^^That's Bullshit^^

Light spectrum has little to do with how much bud you get.

I used MH's for years before switching over to HPS.

The only reason I use HPS's is becasue they don't put off as much heat.

Hope you've got really good ventilation, because that 1000w MH will make your room really warm.

That why I like to use MH's for vegging, The MH's help keep the temperature up aroung 83 degree's.
Which is where I like to keep during vegg.
My vegg period is extremely short. I vegg only for 2 weeks.

yea so I guess the 80% of people on riu that use hps for flowering to get a better yeild are all full of shit. Hps are well known by all growers to be way more effective than mh for flowering. you will need some good ventilation but im sure you know that.

A 400 hps will yeild more than a 400 mh because it gives a lot more lumens, but a 1000mh will be much better than a 400hps, and a lot of people say mh will produce more resin. So yes use the 1000mh over the 400hps.

Using your same analogy.
90% of the world believes in God.
But we all know how that argument will end.

ok so i just bought a brand new 1000 watt ballast and its not digital and when i pplugged it in i blew my breaker and then i also blew my powerbar. What a fucking pain in the ass that was, switch the air cooled hood over and retapping it and shit, i must have stressed my plants out from that. Anyhow im just going to use my 600 watt HPS which is a digital ballast. So im using this for 10 plants, i should get some bud correct?? Also does a digital ballast pull less power then a normal ballast. Thats how its energy efficient??? Anyone???

I'm not gonna speak for everyone, and I certainly don't know what 80% of the growers use.
Honestly I think most of people on here that grow don't know dick on growing and listen to whatever their plant shop tells them to buy.

Lumens have a shit load more to do with yield than spectrum.
JFYI, I use HPS for bloom.

Exactly, the lumen per watt ratio for HPS is always higher than an equal wattage MH.

HPS is better overall than a MH simply because it puts out more light. Since you dont really need the extra light for veg, and the blue light stimulates chlorophyll production more, thats why people say to use MH for veg and HPS for bloom but it doesnt really matter, you can have great results using either one threw out the entire grow.

Is a 1000 watt MH better for bloom than 400/600 watt HPS? Absolutely, the increased lumens trumps the preferred spectrum.

so whats the maximum number of plants to bloom under a 600 watt hps then?? Thanks
A 600 watt bulb should give enough light for a 5 X 5 area.

The outside edges of the 5 X 5 area will recieve less light then the middle.
So that's where you want to put your taller plants.

I'm sure some will say, you can put 1 plant per sq.ft. where you could cram 25 plants in that area.
Technically you could if your plants didn't get taller than 18 inches, andalso if your plants are still receiving a good amount of light on most of the leaves, and all the plants are receiving excellent air flow all around the leaves.
You don't want any stagnant air in any part of your area.

If I wanted the most yield and also very healthy plants, I would only put 3 plants per row in 3 rows. Total 9 plants.
Your plants will get all the fresh air they deserve.
This is very important.
Keep every leaf fluttering.
The leaves are constantly inhaling Co2 and exhaling oxygen.

Remember, Light, air, water.
These 3 things are the most important.
That doesn't mean light is more important than water or vice versa.
If you concentrate on these 3 things at all times, you should get excellent quality bud.

I have been doing a little testing with the SunPulse MH bulbs and have been getting very good results by running the hortilux super eye's hps for the majority of flowering and then changing over to the 10k sunpulse for the last 2 weeks of flowering. There is visually More tricome and resin output on plants. I am on my 3rd run with this set-up. For testing I have grown the same strain then finished under both light sources. After this run I'm going to make hash and see if there is a quantitative difference.
