Ok, as some of you know, im a nerd and i know my universe and electro-chemistry.

When im building circuits, i solder with tin/silver + rosin core, it is a fantastic conducter as it has MINIMAL RESISTANCE.

Now alluminium is equally a fantasic conducter as it also has minimal resistance, this means its able to transfer heat and energy very effeciently, I have over 294 CFM of true airflow. I change my air approx 6 times every minute.

Black pond plastic has a HUGE resistance, (electricty and heat are trapped and cannot move through it), meaning it has bad heat transfer efficency.

This would deduce logically, to alluminum being a better solution then black pond plastic, as alluminum provides a basic level of relections and SUPERIOR heat dissapation, (it hold heat for a shorter time, its able to cool faster).

This is called "sinking heat", think about the heatsink in your computer. The alluminimum foil absorbs the heat on the top of the res, it reflects back what unused energy its able to, and the excess heat is dissapated by my ample air flow.

This would logically dictate to me, that foil would be the superior material as apposed to black plastic.

Eventually i will line everything in mylar, but as ive just over extended my budget to get my grow room active, it will be a month or so before i do so.

Further, to the dipshit who "ROFL'd on the floor", when they saw the pictures of my grow room, i find that a little insulting. Please advise as to what you found so funny? Id appreciate feedback instead of ridicule. Congrats you just made it to number 2 on my shit list.
Behind bmeat, but definently a bigger tool then fresh 2 de@th.

and just for people saying white is better etc etc. please read and look at photos.

IM ASKING.. BLACK PLASTIC OR FOIL! ONE OR THE OTHER.
I won't argue with aluminum being a good heatsink.. but there's quite a difference between foil and an aluminum alloy, or aluminum/copper mix that's used for electronics sinks. That said, heat absorption and thermal conductivity values would make all the difference if you're aiming for a more stable/regulated temp.. agreed?

You over analyzing something i dumbed down for everyone else, the line im trying to draw in the sand, at a scientific level, is simply,

I live in AUS, its freaking hot here, ive noticed my black plastic lining around my res, seems to absorb alot of heat, i have ALOT of airflow and another fan blowing across my ballast,

I would like to think, that foil, being made of alluminum, would allow FASTER heat dissapation at a more EFFECIENT level, given my airflow. as apposed to black plastic. Giving me an added bi-product of reflection.

I was using the electronics analergy to assist "normal" people in grasping my hypothesis.

Ever see what A live wire or even a smoke will do to foil touch a wire to it see burst into flames. This is why a experienced grower will stay away from it. last thing a grower needs to do is explain to a cop and fire marshal why you where growing dope in the first place. Mabey your leagal and thats not a concern. How bout burning to death wile you sleep. The very best reflective surface is flat white paint .It doesn"t come un taped, It doesn't blow into your lights ect and it has better reflective qualities to boot. try placing a flat white painted cardbord box around your kit. if you are worried about it, Most experienced growers don"t worry about this too much. your canapy should cover it soon enough anyway. Your heat problem probably would be easyeir to fix with added circulation and exchange rate in and around the hot spots. try to pick up the hottest air in the hottest areas and remove it from the enviroment.

By the way I think you have the begings of a splended grow area, and your girl looks pretty good, Do add a way to cool that light and exast it straight out of the area. run it in from out side and straight back out. this will cool the room eminsly and alow you to even lower your lights some. Also fresh air in and fresh air out is VERY important your plants can and will depleat the o2 level in your air. you will wan't to roll it over constintly. Do you know how drug officials can tell pot plants from the air from naboring growth around them using infered. Pot plants expecially create lots of heat they are in fact hotter than most varietys of flora. So they themselfs are contributin to the heat factor. exchange is crucial.

Used 2 emergency blankets from walmart, some foil tape from walmart and ducttape. had 2 plants and 5 cfl to make a stealth scrog. 1st time trying it and got a very strong high but only 3.5 gram total from both(winter came sooner then expected). The emergency blankets work great and only cost $2 at walmart in camping area. For thoughs worried about spending to much money, the setup i did cost $30 for everything except the seeds. though the blankets are thin and easy to tear if something sharp gets them, but they are cheap and easy to replace. They also work well for sealing up your grow room to vent/clean the smell so no one smells em.

Im just a noob but wanted to post my experience with it. worked better then white walls ... the blankets dont soak up water and cause mold aswell, and it was very cheap haha.

Curious to know what people have against black/white for lining there walls with? Stays clean, easier to clean/wipe down (no streaks), wont give hot spots. Much easier to install also imo. Is mylar cheaper or something? Ive never looked into it to be honest. Again just curious, maybe IM missing something heh.

Edit: Does bmeat use black/white so everyone is against it?

mylar emergency blankets are about $2 each for a 60" by 48" i think it is. Reflects a little more light then just painting and any water that gets on it dont soak in to the wall. Asfar as i know it the blankets dont create hotspots but im using cfls so i dont really have any heat issues.

I've seen people just use there block walls or unpainted sheetrock and leave it at that. Think if u have proper lighting and air setup you prob dont need to worry to much about reflecting anylight. Its just one of the things that helps to make your grow that much better. From what i have read it goes kinda like so:

Nothing -> mirrors -> Plastic tub -> tinfoil -> plain sheetrock/greyish paint -> White paint -> Mylar

nothing being worst mylar being best. Though the mylar that has a inslator backing on it is bad cause it traps the heat in unless you vent it very well. Mylar helps keep some moisture in the grow area aswell vs just painting it.

but im a noob with just general understanding of it all, take advice at own risk. :)
