Can I use a wardrobe as a grow box?

was gonna originally grow a crop in a small chester drawers. Then after thinking of the dimensions I thought...

Why not buy a double wardrobe and lay it on its side length ways. The height would be a little restrictive at 80cm high but the original grow box idea wouldn’t have had much more height anyway.

The dimensions would be.

6ft long x 2.5ft high x 1.6ft deep

Would be growing an extremely quick auto strain and cutting down after 8 weeks each time.

Would this work?
Is the height enough?
What would be the expected yield?
How many 500w LED panels to light?

Finally, what would be the best way to stealth a wardrobe on its side? In a private rented house! Stealth is key

I dunno man

2.5 feet of height isn't much to work with, by time you subtract pot height and lights, your left with very little space for plant growth. You would have to train them very short and very flat , not even sure it's plausible

You would be better off turning it upright and having it 6' tall and 2.5 feet wide, is that a possibility?

Others with more expierence and smarts will chime in hopefully

2.5 is bloody small, it is doable, but worth it? probably not.

You want stealth, so you need to allow more room for ducting, carbon filters etc plus room for circulation fans, intake, lights etc. I wouldn't waste my time man, far better off using it as 2.5x1.6x6

Maybe with lst and a weak LED so you can have plant pretty much touch light. Roughly 25cm pot height, 20 cm plant from light, light from roof atleast 5cm away if has cooling fans. Leaves about 30 cm of growth space. 50 cm of growth till plant hits light. LST 30cm to 60cm strain, lowrider strain will do nice in their

$5 hat on a nickel head. You're going to be banging your head against the wall trying to get this to work, unfortunately. You are better off spending the $50 and buying a grow tent or building one out of lumber and foam insulation boards.

Ya I never claimed it impossible, I just don't think it's practical lol

Would require good planning along with good training and timing
Just run the colas along walls and ground, plenty of space, watch for mold, set a passive intake, choose a less smelly strain, no carbon filter needed, air the closet with yah hand by swinging the door

Are you suggesting to use the wardrobe upright?

I guess the question is, would the yield even be improved by spending countless time on making this work length ways? Or would it be similar if used upright?

If it would be similar then it’s probably pointless to put the extra work in making it happen.

Nah leave it on its side and train yah plant to grow horizontal, not upwards

If you have to use the wardrobe, go with the upright option. Especially if you are buying an led light. Led lighting needs to be atleast a foot away from your tops during flowering or your gonna end up with bleached buds. That leaves you with 1&1/2 ft of growing space and your autoflower is going to need atleast a 3 gallon pot, so there's almost another foot in height right there.

Personally I would go with a tent in a closet or somewhere where the owner or maintenance wouldn't go, and you should replace the door handle with one that has a lock. A tent is easy and quick to disassemble in a situation where you might need to move your grow. Look into 2x2-2x4 sizes, most tents are 6 ft tall. There are shorter ones if height is an issue. If you're good with carpentry you could build a badd ass stealth cab too.

The thing is, you're gonna need an intake hole for your cab and the purple light from the led coming out of the cabinet will look pretty suspicious lol. You could look into converting a cabinet with a fish tank on top of it and have some weed plants underneath your fishies lol. This will also keep the noise from the fans and air pumps you might need less suspicious, and the light from the aquarium might distract people from color of your grow light.

Air movement will be crucial, and I doubt you'll want to cut a hole in the ceiling or any walls for exhaust lol. Exhausting out of windows will be sketchy in your situation as well. You want negative air pressure though, so your plants wont reek up the place.

Time to get really creative

What ive saw before is assuming the opposite side of the wall is still within ur house. Cut a hole straight through the plaster board into another cupboard. So cut a hole (outake) in back of wardrobe, cut hole right through interior wall leading into another cupboard that u can open and shut as needed.
The cupboard swims outake goes into is also next to the bathroom, which also has an outake fan.
To add though how stealthy does this need to be, i mean unless u make both cupboards airtight anybody standing beside the cupboard would smell the fresh greeness.

A friend of mines also has his fan completely under his floorboards, almost silent and excellent dispatch of heat. Ie cut hole straight throuvh under floor, with ur boxed insulated fan.
