Can I switch my 400 to my new 1000 5 weeks into the flower?

Just be sure you have adequate ventilation and circulation to keep the temps under control. The 1000 watter is going to put off more heat then the 400 watter.

other than what florida girl says...HELL YEAH!!!! then sit back and check the difference. you should prolly keep it a bit higher than your 400 too.

Im sure your thinking of this issue much like putting indoor raised plants outside in the sun,am i correct ?

If so no worries there, what hurts indoor plants when they are placed outdoors in the sun is not lumen intensity but uv light, indoor plants are not used to getting uv light rays & when they are thrust into recieving uv light it hurts the plant, this is not the case with extra HID lumens.

When you switch to the big light your plants will pop a boner & i dont mean hermie either, think of it like the girls nip's getting errect:-o,they'll love the big light & show you how much they love it in a few days.

I stated out with multiple 400 watters much like you,i saw a huge difference once i inserted a 1,000 watt hps into the mix,now i only use 1,000 watters for the bulk of the lighting & 600 watters for side lighting, the 400's are relegated to emrgency lighting should a ballast go.

Pan Head you sure about that UV light thing? These are my 4' tall Silver Haze and Purple Kush they are in their 3 rd week of flowering I started from seed and veged outdoor all day then brought in under f40 tubes at night till it got to cold then indoor but never had a problem now they are under a 600 watt Hortilux Super Hps and doing great! I had 3 but one was a male he had to go.

Yup,im sure, having trouble going from indoor HID lights to natural sunlight does not affect every grower,or every grow but it is a real issue, there is a process called 'hardening' where growers take their indoor plants outside for short times each day or in shaded areas to get them used to direct sunlight before putting them outdoors for the rest of the grow.

You might not of had problems because you vegged outdoors then brought indoors, its different when the plant starts its life indoors then is put in the natural sunlight, your method was the exact oposite.

Edit,i just looked at your pics, jood job man, those look tasty.

I'm going from T5 veg..to T5 flower then in a month my 400hps will be here..I know ideally I should go all hps, but I need to start flower now...I know this will make smaller buds till I change over, but hopefully denser seeing that the last 4-5 weeks will be hps....

I see, thats good to know always learning thats me. thanks for the info Panhead and the props. This is my "flower test run" I had these plants vegging with every intention of planting outdoors but then I lucked into some nice grow equipment and decided to build me a indoor grow room. It turned out great and so far its working like a charm.

Thanks 4personaluse
