Can I lollipop too early?

It is currently day 14 with this auto flower. The two lower leaves are already showing as bud sites for the future. Being that they are so small can I go ahead and remove them now without damaging the plant? No lst or topping yet of course with it only being 14 days old. Thanks in advance!

(the sprouting cotyledon leafs are covered with hydrogen, so the plant is taller than it looks. Using a 6 inch net basket)

Are you referring to the single-bladed leaves (aka first "true" leaves)? Or the small new growth where those leaves connect to the main stem?

Either way I would say Not Yet. The single-bladed leaves constitute a full 25% of the plant's total leaf count at this point. The growth points are tiny right now, but they might develop into decent sized branches, which can then be lollipopped later on if you so desire. But not right now.

Plants grow leaves for a reason, I don't understand why folks are so anxious to cut them off unless there is a good reason for it. If they're blocking airflow, sure, but that isn't even a factor when there are only 8 leaves on the entire plant. Otherwise, please leave them be...

I’m just realllyyyy nervous cause I’ve never done autos. I haven’t grown in like 4 years so I’m getting the jitters stage out and done finally. Yeah it’s only day 15 today so it’s just entering veg but with autos I’m hearing so much about don’t let the plant commit any of its energy to small low budsites especially since I’m going to lst after the 4th node is formed. Thanks again for all the reply’s. I have to take some of them with a grain of salt . Just anxious but less is more and I’m slowly getting back into my groove. Plus never done Hydro only super soil and yeah that was a typo on the hydrogen comment lol

Nervous ? … its a plant.
Plus Stop counting days / weeks / menstrual cycle :bigjoint:or whatever ridiculous time frame you might put on it.

Plant will not follow “ your schedule “ , it doesn’t care about what day it is. It is wired to germinate / bloom / harvest however long that takes. Even the breeder description of yield / harvest “ time “ / characteristics should be taken with grain of salt. They should be considered only as a guide.

Your grow environment , even your skill will play into final result. If you goof on something , it happens. Autos can be a bit finicky and unpredictable but that is the gamble in running them.

Hydro is one way to get big autos if you control the feeding and dial in your grow. Soil is also an easy way to run autos as they only need at the most 100 days or so. The soil itself would pull all the feeding upfront ( for weeks ) before you need to supplement.

GL :weed: Keep us posted.

I would stick with lst to keep your canopy even, but you don't really know what's going to be a bud site until it starts flowering. Who knows, when you bend the top over, those tiny growth tips could turn into your main branches with tons of bud sites on them...

I just changed buckets yesterday with week 3 nutes and the leaves are dropping. I checked the ph and it was down to like 3.8 so I quickly raised it back up. My EC is a lil above .6 but my ppms had dropped showing she was eating. Any advice would be greatly appreciate!

Yeah, when they're little babies I wouldn't, once they're rooted and potted its free reign in my grow. I like to keep the lower third of the plants totally pruned up and clean throughout growth, then a few days before flower I will lolipop all the branches to the 2nd-3rd node at the tips. If you've seen how a lot of people take clones, they literally chop the fuckin leaves in half and do all sorts of high stress stuff and they still root. It's not going to ruin your plant unless you don't know why your cutting something off.

One thing I learned about autos is other than maybe topping them once that is all you want to do, they're not like photoperiod where you can give them an extra week of veg. Also if you train them too much you'll send them into flower prematurely and get a shitty yield IME. I used to grow Northern Lights Auto that grew fuckin louisville sluggers.

If ur going to top/lollipop/fim her then I would at least wait until 4/5 node, autos are bred to be hardier then photoperiods so they can take more. I know numerous people who seriously chop and bondage ( I mean BONDAGE!) their plants and they get stunning yields
