out of all the things ive learnd over time with growing , i still dont know much about how diferent strains have diferent yield potentials! , and let me just say....what the hell....why would anyone that has a choice in strains pick a low yielding strain? for that matter why do they still exists if we have strains that are high yielding!

what are some names of low yielding strains?

ive heard that some strains are known as " popcorn buders " as to say no matter what you doo they will only make small popcorn buds. is that even true?

Any strain can be a low yielding strain if grown in the "right" conditions ("right" being the wrong conditions )
You must also take into account how the plant is grown whether it be soil , hydro etc
The lighting LED cfls sunshine etc
Methods of topping scrog etc

Genetics also can play a role
Bad seeds that are poorly bred

Additionally every strain of marijuana provides a different medical benefit not everyone smokes for pleasure
A lot of people consume for uses of medical benefits and some strains provide much needed medical healing so how much they yield or how short or how stinky they are isn't much of a concern if that's the only strain that works to relieve the consistent excruciating pain you're in

You're thinkin too inside the box with this question

yea i guess your right! im just too cool for school tho! , im far beyond grasping the understanding of growing conditions affecting bud production as ive grown plenty stealth CFL crops before myself! but i guess i asked wrong , i meant more so that some strains just do not produce high bud yield no matter what! thats what i was wondering was if that was true.

Yes, some strains are genetically predetermined to produce less than others, all other conditions being equal.
Why do lower yielding strains still exist in circulation?
Some of them are particularly strong,
Some of them are particularly mold and moisture resistant,
Some of them can be harvested earlier,
Some of them are low profile and wont overgrow your hiding spot,
etc.

Browse the strains on herbies head shop :)
e.g.
"The small size makes it perfect to be hide from different people.
It is very reistent to fungi, can be used without problem in damp."
"high levels of THC and CBD"

"With an unique strong herbal lemon smell and taste. She is mostly indica with small hard nugs and with a little stretch towards the end. Stoney, yet high all round buzz. So, despite the indica heritage, she leads to a sativa-ish high in the head and is therefore a favourite amongst the connoisseurs of the medical community in Holland since the early 90’s."

herbies seed bank allows you to filter choices by preferences. and i think leafly does as well you could browse on those

I did a Google search of "herbiesheadshop forgiving", it came up with a few results, give that a go :)
As forgiving is a common word to describe hardiness to poor conditions.

e.g.
Fast Buds LSD-25 Autoflowering Feminised - "LSD-25 is a very unpretentious and easy growing strain that we can safely recommend even for your first growing, she'll forgive your mistakes and clumsy."

Vision Northern Lights Auto - "This strain is highly recommended for beginning growers as it is one of the most forgiving strains around."
