Can ganj cause cancer?

I've been smoking roughly 3 times a day now and I thought that was a bit much so I thought id look into weed and its lethal effects more. Now, I know no one has ever died from an overdose or anything like that, however if you were to smoke only ganj and not any tobacco or anything like that, could you get cancer? This is what I found.

Marijuana smoke has been found to contain more cancer-causing agents than is found in tobacco smoke. Examination of human lung tissue that had been exposed to marijuana smoke over a long period of time in a laboratory showed cellular changes called metaplasia that are considered precancerous. In laboratory test, the tars from marijuana smoke have produced tumors when applied to animal skin. These studies suggest that it is likely that marijuana may cause cancer if used for a number of years.

Is this more false propaganda from anti-weed websites or is there some truth to this? Fact Sheet - MARIJUANA is my source.

Only wondering because everything i've ever heard goes against what these sites say.

Take it for what it is. I've been chronic, 3 to 5 joints a day, for the past 37+ years. No cancer, I go to the gym everyday and do intense cardio. I also swim a lot. So I will answer no.

more cancer causing agents than tobacco? are they referring to cigerette tobacco? because i dont know if i believe that..they put all kinds of chemicals and shit in cigs.

blunts and joints are probably the worst way to smoke pot health wise
most healthy way would be to vaporize your pot, significantly reducing the harmful smoke

most of this shit comes from tests where they hot boxes monkeys with a years supply for a chronic smoker for like a week of course that wouldn't be good for you. Dumb ass scientists.

Inhaling any kind of smoke increases the risk of lung cancer. Cigarettes, pot, wood smoke, you name it. Whether or not you can say it "causes" cancer is debatable. Genetic factors as well as lifestyle, diet & nutrition, exercise, how much smoke you inhale, how often, over how long a period, etc, all have to be taken into account.

But please spare me the story of your uncle who smoked three packs and drank a bottle of whisky a day and lived to be a hundred and three. Anecdotal evidence is irrelevant.

stays relevant.
Elbarto is right. Huge list of variables involved... but all in all, pretty much anything can cause cancer... Don't be afraid of it though... get regular checkups. I should.

It doesn't if you vaporize it, which is what I do. If done correctly, vaporizing eliminates 100% of the harmful substances, if I'm not mistaken.

Oh my God some people are oblivious. When you burn anything, weed included, there are chemicals released that you really don't want inside your lungs. I like weed and I don't speak out against using it, but these people saying it's propaganda are just rediculous. Go inhale the smoke off a campfire then tell me how you feel. It's smoke!! Unless you vaporize it you're getting stuff you don't want. Also everyone's body is different some can smoke all their lives a la, George Burns, with no problems others take 3 puffs and get cancer. A Lot has to do with genetic predisposition, but hey believe what you want good luck with that.

I dont believe that any small negative effects marijuana may have on my body is a strong enough reason to deny myself one of the best things in life. Living 100 years in a way that does not make you happy is a curse. Living for 10 years in a way that makes you fulfilled is a gift... foot note: you are on crack if you think that marijuana is nearly as harmful as cigarette smoke, much less MORE harmful. Thats laughable.
