My can filter is spreading carbon all over my room. Why and what can be done to fix this? Its not a lot but every month when I empty my room to clean theres black dust on the floor. I have the filter on the floor in the corner and vented thru my light and out thru the ceiling.

Im pulling from the filter and pushing thru the light and yes, thers a mesh/fabric filter on the outside of the can filter. Where the hell is it coming from?

Try a cheap cooker hood filter over the exhaust outlet shouldn't restrict the flow that much if it does vent outside if possible. What make of filter are you using my Rhino Filter doesn't loose its filling or if it does not anything noticeable

sounds gay but get a pair of womens stockings for an exhaust filter. Dont stretch the opening and the holes should be small enough to collect a load of your carbon.

The dust isn't the carbon filter material, it can't wiggle its way out through a prefilter, especially if your sucking inward. You're bringing it in from wherever your air is entering the room. A couple quick things come to mind: make sure you don't have too much reverse pressure going on in your area, also check your furnace filter. GL
