oh I definitely agree for gardening.and also i was thinking about it..... i dont see what would be bad about his stove char.... after all the forest fires are not O2 deprived charring right??? Is it the same quality as the controlled stuff.... probably not, but it should still suffice as that's the way nature did it!

Whereby, there is a lot of smouldering going on as the undergrowth burns, it can smoulder for weeks... but those are pockets. I bet the Maya got mixed types of char from their burns.
For a compost toilet, given the choice I'd prefer the biochar over "normal" charred wood for its larger holding capacity
Whereby a compost toilet can be run perfectly without any biochar too
