can anyone tell me if this lamp will do?

here is a link to a lamp im interested in on ebay. those who have read my other posts know i cant get anything more powerful because of living on a student campus./ the auction is over but i offered 20£ (39$) for it? how is the lamp anyway will it be good enough?

I would think you are better off spending that money on a bunch of CFLs. A 100W HPS is pretty weak.

but how do cfl's work? is it the same concept with power and everything just simply a stronger kind of light? if this is so howcome people dont only use these in stead of sodium?

CFL is just a compact floro. They are NOT as good as HID lighting but with a lot of them in high wattage and in the right spectrums you can get some great grows. These lights are strong when REALLY close to plants so you need to be adjusting frequently to keep them close but not burning plants.

well basically i was gonna be limited to 100w sodium lamp, but with this, if i get one of the same power will it have a better effect then? the thing is i cant go over that power usage because of where i live, so is the cfl still recomended?
