Timber state the coverage for that light as 8 square feet. So 2x4, you would want 4 of them.

There are some great LEDs these days, timber make great lights but look at the details where it says coverage so there is no confusion
i just asked timber about that and they came back with the following

A 1 kW DE HPS outputs roughly the same PAR wattage as a 600 Watt COB light - that is due to the efficiency of the LEDs.

We have many growers who use that particular setup in place of 1KW HPS with good/better results.

We also use that setup in commercial facilities that are replacing their DE HPS lights.

shit that is pricey then
They have better options for 4x4 spaces, of which you would want two.

There is also the HLG 550 from horticultural lighting group or HLG600 from growers lights which is a fair bit more cost effective.
All good lights. Efficiency still costs a fair bit at this time. It has and will get cheaper with time.

Or check out DIY options with cobs, strips, quantum boards. Just avoid ebay.

Sounds about right. Dan knows a shit heap more than I do. But the light you linked is a 300w light.

I can say 600w of cob or strips or boards will light up a 4x4 very well. But yes its not cheap to do, especially with pre made fixtures, the parts are just very expensive. The opposite of ebay junk.

Yeah your missing something.
You said 1.2m x 2.4m which is 4x8 ft. Which is 32 square foot. The timber light covers 8 square foot been 2ft x 4ft, that's 8 square foot. Its not the same as 8 ft squared.

lol I have no idea where you got 9.5 ft fom 1.2m x 2,4m though?

Two of these mate for 1.2m x 2.4m

or

4 of these spread out
https://www.diyleduk.co.uk/product-page/265w-quantum-board-v2-kit-dimmable

I used to use two of them over 4x4 of my 8x4 flower tent. But these are the newest and slightly better than my v1 kits.
The dude will pre assemble them for free too and its free UK delivery.
yeah these look a way better option saves getting them shipped overseas too

4 of the smaller ones would obviously get better light coverage too right

Yeah I actually prefer the 265w sets for that reason. You can lower or raise independently or slide them across ect.
Although I haven't used the bigger ones personally. Just makes more sense though.

Welcome to RIU BTW, there are plenty of us from the UK here, nice to have another!

You mean like this?
What are you not sold on? I get that it's expensive to buy them but as far as performance they output more light/photons per watt. So by saying hps is better your saying plants like less light/photons
Looks cool. I guess I just don't want to be let down when I decide to buy one. Although I am getting 1.04 grams per watt on my 600w HPS system. On a good run. Just have to get a new bulb every 2 grows to get best results. So many brands and different LEDs flooding the market. It's hard to choose. I will eventually switch. Thanks for the link.
