Can Air Get Stoned?

Hello hello! Im looking for a little input. Im running a flood and drain setup with 20ft 6" PVC pipes. Each pipe has a 40 gal res. Currently I have a single air stone in each reservoir, my question is, should I have multiple air stones in each res? Obviously, the more o2 the better but whats a good number? Is there a calculation or rule of thumb? Thanks er'body

Can you share some pictures of your systems? I get the impression they are homemade?

As Toastycookies sorta mentioned, it would depend mostly on the size of the air pump itself. If you have some huge monster built for a 100gal fish tank, and proper sizes of hoses/stones, you could be fine.

I'm going to also assume the res.s are not full of 40gals, I would assume 1/2-2/3 could be enough, but I believe the max amount your pvc pipes can hold is around 37gal, but those as well only need to get 1/2to3/4 full.

Anyways, how bubbly are the res.s? And about what size are the bubbles that are popping?

Minad, thanks for inquiring so in depth.
I can't recall exactly what size pump we use. We have a 6 splitter attached with 1/4 inch hoses running to 3" disc stones. Each res has about 30-35 gal's and as the roots drop we run the water level lower at about 1/2 way in the pipe. But the res needs to have extra water sitting in the res so the pump doesn't run dry while filling.

The bubbles are insignificant at best which caused some concern for me. Im going to run 2 stones and see how that fares. Thanks everyone!!!

Looks like a nice, simple and clean set-up. Just a couple weeks into flower? JC, is this the first grow you've done with this system? Props given where deserved. :)

I'd trust in the bubbles, if two pumps/stones get it looking like a boiling witches cauldron, you can bet you're putting a good-enough amount of o2 in there. But, in such a sealed system you're probably not getting hardly any o2/nitrogen(to the roots) from any source besides the res., and without any light attacking your roots I'm pretty sure there's no way over oxygenation could be an issue.

Thanks Minad. Yes, second week of flowering. We've harvested 3 times in this system but we were mostly dealing with pest issues during that time and now we're finally focusing more on the details of the system. I appreciate your input. Very helpful.

Yes yes. The yellowing you are speaking of was from a faulty ph meter. Everything seems to be clearing up now. However, in a separate, identical box I am having some issues. I will take some photos of these issues and I will post them. I would definitely love and appreciate some constructive criticism. Thanks man
