Can a plant be left alone for 7 days?

I heard a few people say that weed can even thrive if left alone for a few extra days but im not sure if this is true. I want to push my plants into flower within the next week and wanted to know if they are into flowering about 10-14 days and I need to go away can I leave them for 7 days if I feed and water them before I leave? I was also thinking about putting a white cover over the soil so to reflect light and protect some water from evaporating quickly. OR maybe even put the pots in a dish of water. Anyone help reguarding leaving plants would be really appreciated. Im growing under cfls 1 for each plant then an aerogarden hood pushed onto its side is shining onto each although I dont know how much light they are providing.

In my opinion its not that they thrive, its just that you don't see the new growth every day so you just think that they thrive. But I could be wrong.

Depends on how many actual days the plant is without adequate water. I think the longest you can expect your plants to last is probably 2 days after they begin to droop.

I would not leave you plants alone that long. I wouldn't leave them alone for more than a 3 or 4 days. What I would do though if you absolutely have to be gone that lone is pretend like your going to leave them for 7 days. Monitor what happens to your plants while your home and if they dry up then you know it wont work. if you go seven days and they are still alright then you shouldn't have a problem doing it for real.

i wouldnt leave them for that long either... but if you have to make sure there is something under the pot so it can absorb water. i went to marley fest in long beach and received a business card and 2 self watering systems. fill bottem up to 2 weeks
heres the website add.

when a plant starts to flower it can almost double in size so if you do leave it for 7 days don't forget to move your lights a safe distance from them so you don't come back to roasted plants cause they're growing in to the lights.

Peace.:peace:

umm well you can always get a soda bottle and drill a few small holes in the cap or bottom and put some cotton string threw it, fill it up and it will drip for a few days, chances are you have string or a spare shoe string, and a 2 liter bottle is only going to cost you a buck 50 if u have to but one, just make sure there something to catch any excess, and make sure that the lights are far enough away, if u have time give it a trial befor you take off to allow you to adjust the size of the holes, bigger holes and bigger string=less time, smaller hole and string=more time but less water, give it a try should be adequate to keep 'em moist for a few days.

aqua globes look good to me cheap and you do nothing but put water in it and stick it in the dirt. but you may be able to find something else even cheaper.

Seems like more than one person is about to go away for seven days. Spring Break anyone? That's the trouble I will be having. Leaving Friday, going to water them, coming back Friday, going to water again. Just finished week 1 flowering and I'll be crossing my fingers a lot while I'm away.

I was thinkin a block of ice in a cooler with a small tube....that would probably last 4 or 5 days if not more????

my advice if you don't want to buy extra stuff is this

Flush before you leave then fert once

take 1 gallon jugs and put a small hole in the bottom, test the rate of drainage at 1/7 a gal per day or less preferably since you just flushed. position them 1/2 way from pot edge to plant cover soil loosely with printer paper and leave.

make sure it drips slowly even when on the plant, and you should have a properly draining soil.

they will be fine even with out this if there is sufficient dirt to plant. 1 gallon to 1 foot is what ive heard that seems too easy though. just water before you leave and raise the lights alot because they will stretch! in 7 days.

it depends on the circumstance (I am doing aeroponics) and have left them for 6 days and when i checked them on my return it looked like they benefitted from me not messing with them all the time

I live at home im only 18 and my mom came into my room last night as I was coming out of my closet so I was like oh umm yeah I was cleaning, it was pretty funny but I dont know Im getting the vibe they may be cool with it. There is a slight smell too and she has found receipts before so who knows. I hate to sneak around the way I have been and I realize its basically disrespectful so I hope I can be open about it.

It would be better if they knew. Mainly because (as you probably know) they will - at least initially - be in as much trouble as you if caught.
