Can A Doctor Do This?

Okay...some of you may or may not know I have Anxiety. I get perscribed Xanax once a month. LAst month me and my mom got into an argument. She called and called my doctor office and then yelled and threatened him till he sent a "certified letter" to my house dismissing both of us. I'm 20 years old. I didnt do anything wrong (as she is trying to say I abuse my medication...infact it is the only medication I NEVER abused because I REALLY need it). She never told me, I recentley moved out, and when I first made a new appointment there was no problem. Now a few days later they called and told me what happend.

I had to embaressingly tell them the situation about my mentally ill mother who is trying to emotionally destroy me in every way she can and actually had a panic attack and passed out when finding out they didnt want to treat me. I told everyone at the office that I have been hospitilized for attacks, never misused them, and never been rude or broken any of the doctor paitent rules that we have.

The doctor is coming in tommorow and ultimatley it's up to him.. We get along pretty good. But do you think he may not take me back because of my mother saying all this bullshit? I'm really worried Im going to have to go to the emrgency room to get the medicine I need =/

Get your own doctor and pay your own way easy game.

Isuspect you are on your moms insurance so when they dropped her they dropped you, although it should not make a difference. Best move was when you moved out, I hope it all works out for you.

I would think that if they don't want to treat you that they should give you a reccomendation on a Dr who can.
Well they said that the letter was sent to my old adress and was adressed to both of us. But since we dont live together, and I didnt do anything wrong, and she signed for me, and lied , there gonna ask the doctor tommorow what he wants to do. He's a sweet guy I'm just worried he's so overwhelmed by my motheer he wants to wash his hands of me. I said that too. Like if you ddont wanan treat me fine, but you already got me down for the appointment and should at the very least make this my last time and write me a new doctor....

This whole thing is FUCKED I didnt do ANYTHING wrong....

If the doctor seems to be siding with your mother tell him that he should look back through your history to see if you have been abusing the script. Tell him that you have never asked for more pills than the amount he decided that you need, and at times go without when you feel like you need one because you do not want to abuse the medicine. If he does not see things your way ask for a copy of your medical history from them and take it to a new doctor, may have to go through a few but you will find someone to help. Good luck and i hope this helps.
You may also look into getting some strains that are anti-anxiety in nature and see if you can ween yourself off of some of the Xanax, may help to get a new script if you are using less.

i don't really see the problem.. if the dr doesn't want to treat you, fine, get a new dr... it can't be that hard, as i hear of people dr shopping all over to get meds from more than one dr.. if you have insurance, all you have to do is look in your book and pick a new dr out of a list of probably a few hundred in your area.. move onwards and upwards my brother..

I did this with the secratary today. Infact i havent been back for a refill in about five months! At first they were siding with her but the truth is like the sun, it can be blocked but will eventually come out. By the time I used ration and reason like

A) I never asked for more than perscribed
B) I never been hospitlized for overdoseing on this midicine
C) I have been upfront with all medicines and supplements I take
D) I'm 20 years old and do not need a parental authority
E) I have always been polite
F) I have been hospitlized for panic attacks and originally perscribed it by the ER doctor
G) I never failed a drug test
H) It wasnt ME that made these calls
I) They never informed me of what happend even when I gave them my number about 200x and new adress prior to this.

I mean...this is ridiculous. And smoking guves me anxiety. I just grow. That's it.

Well i did not assume you we using so little that you haven't refilled in 5 months, if that is the case this is ludacris, you should have no issue at all and if you do a new doctor will certainly get you what you need. Sorry bout the weed comment, usually people take as many of the xanax as they can, that is why i said what i did. You obviously do not abuse you meds, therefore you should be fine to get more. IF you still have the records from going to the er, those would help you with a new doctor, even if you get nothing from the current doctor.

sounds like you just need to get away from her, far far away.. and it sounds like you've already done this.. i would just try and avoid any contact with her for awhile to things calm down some..

Nice thing about that, she only said that to your doctor, not every doctor in the area, if he gives you any shit at all i think i would look into some actual "doctor shopping".
Damn kidney issues too? Thats 2 of the 3 issues that bug me the most, Anxiety, Eye pain, kidney pain. nothing worse than those, except if the kids are sick, thats worse.

Once a doctor/patient relationship is established, a doctor generally has the duty to continue to provide care to the patient until: (1) the relationship is terminated by the mutual consent of the patient and doctor; (2) the dismissal of the doctor by the patient; (3) the clinical services of the doctor are no longer required by the patient; or (4) the doctor properly withdraws from the doctor/patient relationship.

That's straight from a lawyer site.

(Think this is bull shit lol)

Fuck that, so if i am unhappy with my doctor i have to go let him know and he has to agree before i get a new doctor? And what happens if he doesn't agree?
I know i have switched doctors without saying anything to anybody, whether my insurance changed, or i was just getting a new doc, no issues ever. The most they have ever asked is for the contact info of the old doc to get records.

Nothing wrong with doctor shopping, its your body, your money and your life, you take as many precautions as you want.

@80mg There's nothing wrong with doctor shopping, especially if the situation with the doctor and your mom has grown to this weird thing. Would finding another doctor, one that would be more open to hearing your whole story, be out of the realm of what you can do / afford to do?
