Can a 400 watt MH bulb work in a 315 watt gavita MH socket?

Hi I'm trying to sell my Gavita double ended MH lights.

A buyer has asked me this question in the topic.

Can anyone let me know the answer, please?

I have 630 watt double endee MH lights (315x2).

315w as in CMH? the ballast isn't the same as a MH ballast. low-freq square wave

It is CMH so I think you are right then.

Correct, it will not work and isn't safe, I would always use compatible components to avoid fires and other potential problems.
