I am attempting to fix the issues with the other shows I've done so far by doing research on this site. All of my previous projects have been haphazardly thrown together and now I'm trying to improve my planning stage.

My question pertains to the amount of mass One can expect to harvest under Hid lighting. I've used Hid's in the past and I feel I know how to manage heat and the other problems brought on by said systems.
I plan to grow in a top feed system where 9" square pots make up a SOG totaling 16 or so p/ m2.
I plan to use a 400w MH p/m2.
I understand that many variables go into this process but can anyone give me their estimate if I work everything out properly?

....if you do everything "right", you should get about 1/2 gram per watt of light.
...if you get anything more, you've done great.

I would imagine that if everything was done right:the temp is low, the clones are effectively filling up the canopy, you have a quality strain and the light is kep close to the canopy along with others that a little less than a pound is obtainable from a 400 watt light. If you look at most strain descriptions they show the yeild as 450 grams/per sq meter or something like that. Also some people can harvest 2 pounds from one 1000 watt light.

Thanks Guys, I was just hoping for some hands on experience might post on this thread. I've heard that a good goal for a noob is .5g/w but again I've also heard of folks pulling out up to and over 1g/w. I understand that a stable conditions is critical to optimizing production, I've read Jorge Cervantes medical bible backwards and forward, So I believe I'm up to date on most basic functions of my garden.

Thanks again +rep
