Californians! LEGALIZE weed in CA by supporting Bill 390!

I think it's supposed to be completely separate from the medical marijuana system. And it might be BETTER to keep your medical license, because it says that the government would tax $100 for every ounce sold...so I'm sure prices are going to jump.
so why are we supporting this bill then.....
you make it sound like a badf thing....
maybe its good for me ....
higher prices .... higher donations for me .... wouldnt mind making more money off my buds...
how would i be taxed if i sold to my friends ????
or would this just be for the clinics....

Here's a copy of the Bill which includes a "fee of $50" on every oz sold, the money of which will be used to fund an anti-drug campaign, plus lots of regulatory hoops for commercial growers to jump through, including the prohibition of marijuana use on the premises of a commercial grow op.

Otherwise it looks pretty reasonable

Well hey, it's only $50 tax an oz, they must have changed it cuz I swear it was $100 when I first heard about the bill.

Anyways, the tax would be on places that sell marijuana like alcohol, not on the medical dispensaries. So I'm saying that if you went to buy marijuana in a store the way you would alcohol, it will probably be more expensive than if you went and bought it at the club. Because the clubs are supposed to remain a completely separate system for medical patients. So their prices SHOULDN'T be effected (right?).

You wouldn't be taxed, unless they knew you were selling it, obviously. But if they know you're selling it, then you'll probably be considered a "retailer" and be subjected to the $50 an ounce tax.

I'm supporting this bill because it would legalize marijuana! People with no connects could go into a store and pay the higher prices. I can still go through MY connects, for my same prices. If you get caught with it, how is anyone supposed to be able to tell if you bought it through a store that payed taxes on it, or from your friend who grows?

Thanks for all the great info guys.

I really would like to go to that thing in L.A,
but I don't wanna drive that far. I think L.A
is like a 2 hour drive from where I am.

And you're right wikid! Medical patients would be EXEMPT
from the fees.

(h) To exclude from the fees and regulations imposed by this act
marijuana that is for uses other than smoking or ingestion, and to
exclude medicinal marijuana from fees under these provisions.

Thanks, it's from one of my favorite movies.

That meeting was the biggest cluster fuck I've seen in a long time. The city attorney not only didn't show up but his rep ran us through all sorts of ambiguities and reefer madness (one of the buzz phrases of the day. more later) that basically made all cash/" over the counter"(<--------don't ever do this) transactions a felony. Also, for the first time, a quality issue was raised (for the patient's sake). Everyone liked that issue. We can't have pesticides. What shall we do? Also, how do we measure strength? Where's the FDA? Oh fuck, this is a class one drug. The FDA can't get involved. What shall we do? Thank god a chief of police got up and brought a little sanity into the conversation. He agreed that money had to exchange hands to make sure that medicine was provided to patients. How else would the electricity, the "products", etc. be paid for? It's just that in his mind, this exchange couldn't be an "over the counter" transaction. What would it be then, pray tell. The Long Beach city attorney got up to tell us that his city is fucked because they didn't understand that they could only extend a moratorium so many times and for so long, so even though he usually doesn't speak up when he isn't invited in, "don't do what we didi LA....I'm just sayin'" Then all the advocates got up, said what needed to be said, and turned things around. History is being made here guys. You should be here. Thank you Don Duncan and all the advocates that showed up and made a difference.
