California is the Next Amsterdam

California is still the leading state for paving the way for nation wide legalization. Any one hear they are voting in November to decide if it should be out right legalized for those 21 and over. There are a few limitations on the amount you can posses but nothing major.

Haven't heard that one but definitely looking into it seeing how Cali is my neighbor!!! Trying to move there be next in line to make a difference.

Yup its going to be on the ballot in november for cali residents to vote on. Humboldt county will be like going to Champagne, France for champagne. It will be a big tourist area along with other places in cali. Overall the possible legalization will hopefully spread accross the country if it is passed. Once tax income comes out along with decrease in crime and other things such as pot related deaths which will officially be documented like alchohol related deaths are and will prob be around 0. Other states should follow. I am sure that it will be easy to see that the fear of marijuana is just old ways of thinking and more of a smear campaign.

Sadly, I don't see this happening. Too many growers making their livings who will vote to keep it that way. I wish I lived in CA so I could cancel out one of their votes, even if I fully understand where they are coming from

yah, i don't think that there will be another amsterdam ever anywhere.. its not just the fact that you can walk into any one of about 200 or so coffee shops in the dam and buy mj even though its not legal in the city, its very well accepted, there is much more to amsterdam than the coffee shops and all the mj honestly.. where else can you walk down block after block in a major city and see all of the prostitutes flashing their wares in the storefront windows legally? i can't think of one.. and the redlight district is way off the hook not even counting the prostitutes.. they have some of the wildest live sex shows i have ever seen in my life..
on top of all of this, amsterdam is just an amazing city to visit without any of the mj.. the city is really beautiful... canal lined street after canal lined street.. the architecture is amazing as well..
most of the people who live in the city of amsterdam are also very open minded and very laid back and very helpful... its an amazing city even without the mj..
so even if cali legalizes mj, its a far cry from amsterdam, and thats even though that mj is not even legal in amsterdam..
just my two cents though.

It takes more than laws to create an atmosphere. Adam works because of the Dutch specifically. It certainly doesn't translate to California.

It's like comparing Monte Carlo to Las Vegas.

well the possession amount is week, its only 1 oz. per person, but the grow limit is ridiculous. it will allow anyone and everyone to grow up to 25 sq. ft. which would equal out to be more than 1 oz. in the end. im in between on this, on one side it makes it basically impossible to get F'ed with even if you already have a med.215, but if you are growing for sales then i think you would pretty much be screwed. the prices would have to drop pretty low for there to be no profit to be made, it would take round 2-3 times the average amount to get back to profiting the same amount.

wut does this mean for the medical marijuana community ? no more co-op or collectives?only 25 sq ft and an oz? not cool

I would think medical laws will still remain intact, but have not looked it up yet. I am interested in knowing if anyone who grows more or less for a living is for legalization as laid out in this bill.

big money lobbiest and pot farmers started this whole 215 thing and they are going to keep it going... there is to much money on the line for the state to legalize it... a big issue here and they are even having board meetings and articles in the paper attempting predicting the future economy... its got our attention here thats for sure but i know there is enough money being made out there andmillionares to say fuck it and give up their booming buisness..

for the person that said 25 square feet and only one oz... you CRAAAAZY.

a 5x5 room is enough to grow a couple of decent sized plants.

with 2sqr feet and a couple of CFL's i've seen 78 grams dry and cured.

i'd use the space to grow one HUGE plant, under a 1000 watt light, in a 5 gallon bucket. that would be a beast....

Obviously it takes a few years for a place to develope into a tourist area. People already travel to california for what it offers. Also it being bankrupt has nothing to do with comparing it to amsterdam. It is actually illegal to grow marijuana in Amsterdam unlike california. However you are allowed to sell it in amsterdam. California has actually more to offer then amsterdam has. I have been to both places and unless you are disappointed there is no red light district in cali then you can def compare cali to being the next amsterdam.

Most people go to places like cali, florida because they are american states that have beautiful beaches, warm weather, alot of entertainment, such as night life, restaurants, site seeing tours. Theres alot more to a place then just the drugs they offer, yes. Its not a direct comparison but its similar to the idea of why people travel to cities such as ny, athens, tokyo. They all offer something that the other doesn't but still have a key similarity.

Any move in that direction is a very good thing, for the world wide impression of our beloved shrub. The more the truth get's out the better, but pleas oh please dont let california get like Amsterdam! That place is the biggest weed rip-off on the planet!
