I'm using a dirt mix that is denser than what I'm used to, so that played a role in the overwatering as well. Really though it never drooped from too much water, just the opposite, it grew super fast. Looking at it as another chance to learn how to treat and/or prevent this situation.

i got a spot of it on a SFV mom i was running last year . tricoderma hazrium (botanigaurd product ) limped me thur with a sizeable yeild ( it can be sprayed thru a backpack sprayer on the soil and the plant stem ) i am using ksil, a microbe mix called "dragonfly earth medicine natural mistic" this year as a preventitive....

I'll get some pics up soon. Found a couple spots of stem mold and cleaned them up and coated in a sulphur paste. I did lose a branch but it was a lower and smaller one. Even in a dry year, there are issues! I am in the wettest part of oregon though, so I'll make do with what I get. That stem mold moves quick but I think if you catch it in time before it really moves into the plant then it can be mitigated. I think in the future I might just spray all of the inner/lower stem with a thin sulphur liquid to make a sort of armor. All the pruned areas, anywhere where a branch rubs the cage, or injuries, are super susceptible to the mold. My humidity really jumps at night, (sigh)I guess I'll get a proper greenhouse next year.

you using Ksil?? or diatom earth?? that really helpe me with those problems ... but like you said your pratically in a rainforest right??? lol your a badass for ANY non moldy nugs... do strawberries do ok up there??

My strawberries do awesome, but can get moldy real fast if injured or over ripe. On another note, just was outside spraying plants and caught a cougar stalking my chickens. It was an adult and I ran inside and got the shotgun, made some noise anyway. Price I pay for living in the woods I guess. I walked past to the upper pad and on the way back heard a chicken making noise and my goats were huddled up. Came back and the goats were snorting and rearing up. Don't know how long it had been there but was a shock when it stood up and bounded away.

wow ! i had a few of my own go down to a big cat but being that close !! damn get a donkey or a Brahma cock :) donkeys are fucking mean to cats ... mean ....you got a electric fence to tie some bacon or chicken to ??on a dewy morning it can make em yip ...

I'm going to look into the ksil, I do use a silica product but not to a large degree, really only in the beginning. Maybe I need to strengthen up them cell walls more. It seemed pricey and I haven't got a clear opinion on whether it's worth it or not.

alright for anyone else growing in a cooler wet area, this next short heat wave might be the last real heat. I'm planning on taking that straw mulch back out afterwards and focusing on more PVC and t post covers. Great time to spray for whatever is needed as I won't be spraying after mid sept on most plants. I also keep an eye on the weather and slightly underwater if wetness is coming in. More sulphur paste going on the stems as well as daily checks for stem mold. Happy growing!

They had high covers and didn't get a drop of rain on them. The air is just so wet at night, and it was cool and humid for a few days in a row.
