you didn't say add more cal mag you said its a cal problem. i said the problem is shit roots what cant uptake anything correctly regardless of how much nutrients or cal mag you add but im done replying because the person needs to address the real problem eg bad roots

Then why only cal? Root rot doesn't actively select what nutrients it'll effect. Those leaves are showing text book cal deficiency. He said the roots have been that color yet only had a problem after forgetting cal mag. That's just a coincidence? I'll say it again every grower needs to trust their instincts bc this is what happens every time. Some one has to be right and can't except some one else's opinion.

learn to read learn to look at photos learn what root rot looks like stop being dumb thanks plus i was using cal as a reference to cal mag but again that IS NOT THE PROBLEM enough said stupid troll

It's there, clear as day. I am not taking sides it is what it is.

Start over with hydroguard is my advice. Dose it heavy.

sexy roots

They do look like that if I rinse off the nutrients with fresh water.... but like I said my nutrients leave a heavy stain on them. I really don't think it's root rot but anyway I'll see how she goes with the cal mg for now, thanks guys!

ok but in the mean time start a new seed if you have one
what nutrients are you really using??? how often do you change your res?? are you adding air to the water with a air pump ?? if yes are you leaving it on 24/7
some nutrients will stain the roots. mine did for the 1st 2 weeks but it was because of heave dose
explain how you are mixing your nutrients and in what order. lets not all argue and lets maybe try get this plant sorted or get you set for a better grow in the future

Mobile and Immobile Nutrients. ... Mobile nutrients are nitrogen in the form of nitrate, phosphorus (P) in the form of phosphate, potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), chlorine (Cl), zinc (Zn) and molybdene (Mo). Calcium (Ca), sulfur (S), iron (Fe), boron (B) and copper (Cu) are immobile.
Since the issue is not on new growth, but the bottom then it should be an immobile nutrient.

Bright white roots is all you should see....otherwise, you have root issues. And you have root issues. Forget about your deficiencies...until you fix those roots you're pissing in the wind. If you're hesitant to take the advice given here, I would post in the DWC section and see what they have to say.

What kind of nutrients are you using btw?

Your nutes have stained your roots but look deeper at the structure of them. You can literally see where your lateral roots have been eaten away by the infection.

Grab a root between your fingers and hardly pull on it and i mean hardly. If it breakes off easily and then leaves a tiny thin string behind than the argument the discussion is over.

There's no reason for anyone to be disrespectful, not that I'm saying anyone is, if you get irritated move on.

To the OP, I've been in your position and not that long ago. If you want to listen to your gut go ahead and do so but atleast use all the information you have here now to inform your gut and research the net.

Make a choice one way or the other and if you fail or success you will know who was or wasnt right and which one you have been.

*Update*

Washed roots with plain PH'd water to break free any binds, Added 3" of river rock to reservoir and all grow buckets, and a 30gph filter, topped off with more beneficial bacteria. And voila roots are now back in action and got some nice new growth started. Hopefully it's only up from here, thanks again everyone.

Give it a few days to see if you're good or not. If your new roots start to do the same thing then it may just be to late.
