Looking for some advice on my cab grow i have built my first cab with flower, veg, and filter chambers i want to run a hps in the flower of course why wouldnt i right! now the thing is should i go for a 400w or 250w same price but that dosn't matter i want to buy something that will work not something that won't ok now i cannot use a cool tube as design didnt allow for this but cab is 46" tall by 17.5 inches wide and 41.5 inches long flower chamber is 2' wide and veg 17.5Lx 17.5W x 20"H the cab will be cooled with a 6" inline fan with carbon filter max cfm is 400 but need to tone the fan down to 200 as carbon filter is rated for that i have the smallest one i believe the can 30 i think so the any help one size of lamp would be great remember i dont want to start a fire! P.S. veg will be cfl of course
As long as your temps/ventilation are in check 33,000 lumens is no where near overkill, more light= more bud, personally I would recommend a 250W CMH (Ceramic Metal Halide), produces a much fuller and better spectrum than HPS and not to mention they run a little cooler, this is the cheapest place Ive found for CMH bulbs: (be sure to get horizontal not vertical)
(-->CLICK HERE<--) I know a very experienced grower who used HPS for years, he tried a combo of CMH + HPS and swears he will never go back to just HPS again. If your using an air cooled hood and carbon filter I think once you hook up the ducting and everything to your fan you should be good, however if you need to tone it down with a fan controller don't turn it down below 70% or it will wear out the motor, when you turn it down too much you'll hear it make whining sound, turn it back up until its running smoothly.
