c02 questions

I have been thinking about adding c02 to my garden. I was gonna use a gallon jug, water, sugar, and yeast. My question is do I need to add an air pump? Whats the best way to get the c02 to my plants keeping in mind it's heavier then oxygen? Does anyone know how much water, sugar, and yeast should be used in a gallon jug?

Do what I did and brew your own hooch , the fermentation is the same as what you mentioned. Look up how to brew your own mead on-line, it tells you how -to step by step. it's really easy and you kill 2 birds with one stone, the plants get co2 and after 2 months you get your own home brew.

1 tbs yeast + 2 tbs sugar / 1l water. Adding an air pump will be very useful, since a lot of co2 just diffuses in the water.

This setup is good for 4 plants and will last about 2 weeks, then it needs to be changed.

I have 5 big ass bushes. Should I double the ingredients? I figured an air up would help, but how to rig this all up is another question. . . . Thank you

Just use 2 1l containers or 1 2l container with double the ingredients.

I personally would go with 2 containers in order to guarantee an even amount of co2 in the air. But if you have a tight space (under 9 square meters) a single container will do fine.

Whats the ppm change in the room and the room size?

I dont know if it really makes a differnce but i always have a couple in my grow room just in case you know it cant hurt..

why don't u guys buy a few mid size 20oz CO2 tanks($30/each?) for paintballing they even sell at walmarts and get em filled at the same time(3.99each for a fill) on the weekends so it looks like u paintball on the weekend(ask friends if you can borrow their unused tanks, everyone paintballs once in their life!). I buy a pack of o-rings because as soon as i gety the tanks i pull/rip the o-ring off. then i slowly screw it into my paintball gun. without the o-ring it leaks CO2 through the little purge hole on the thread attachment. I hang the paintball gun on a hook above the circulating fan (thats on the ground) on the ceiling. leaking half the tank a day ( screw it and unscrew it twice a day if u have time) it will provide me with a visual difference within 3 days of this procedure. It always looks like that was the nutrient they have all been waiting for to thrive with a growth rate on average of 1.2 inches per day. Im just waiting to buy a big tank with an automatic release and monitor. GIVE IT A SHOT, those yeast contraptions seem like a pain in the ass for a just a daily fart of CO2. no offense i just cant imagine using that method. lastly my room is a 6 x 10 foot so i use half a tank a day. by no means is this scientifically correct it just seems to be the minimal amount i need with my circulation to see the massive difference. If i do a full tank a day it makes no diff.

Rent a 20lb c02 tank from a welding supplier for about $50 per year....C02 where I live is $35 CDN for 20lbs. Thats enough for several months in a larger grow.

All you need then is an electric regulator and a timer, One time cost, maybe $200.

This way you can actually calculate how much c02 your using and how long it will last and your not just randomly dosing random amounts.

Yeah, if you have a larger grow, burners are the absolute Only way to grow.


I may switch to a water cooled burner next year, but c02 tanks are just so damn cheap and easy to rent, no hassle.

Hey there. The easiest way is to take a 2 liter bottle fill it up half way. Take the cap poke a nice hole on top of it. Make a funnul or use one and add 1/5 of sugar and 1/5 of yeast the more the better with suger and yeast not 2 much though. put the cap back on with hole in the top of it. Shake it for the first 48 hours every couple of hours,after that you only should do it twice or however you like for the day. It should get cloudy and you'll see it bubble up to top thaths the reaction. Change every week or so. When you cover the top with your hand and shake it up let go and you'll feel it suck away from your hand. Thats how you know its working. Good Luck.

If i was to get a monitor..... how could i regulate SUGAR&yeast output....... obviously i could put it in and take it out, But I waS thinking that its a gas...... could we not catch it and release slower or quicker rates or as desired?? If we were to do larger scale once a week
