C02 Question

Alright, my grow tent is 4x8x7 feet, 224 cubic feet.

The C02 calculator estimates that I'll have to use 1 cubic foot per hour to maintain a pph level of 1500.

With that estimate, the tent would take about 168 cubic feet per 7 days.

So I'm assuming the smallest tank I want to get holds 168 cubic feet?

What size of a tank would you guys recommend so I'm not filling it too often, I dont want anything to be too suspicious, to neighbors or anyone else.

Thanks

I've been using a ten lb tank for like 4 months now

I am working with about 12 cubic feet of grow space

I guess a lot of people dont do CO2 tanks because of the expense and hassle. I personally do the water, sugar, and yeast thing. It doenst produce as much as a tank would release, but its constant, cheap, and easy.

Thanks Green,

Personally I'm looking for maximum effectiveness, an looking to maintain a 1500ppm level efficiently
I dont believe I'd be able to achieve that with water, sugar and yeast.

This is the Co2 meter that I use for my grow area.

It's very difficult to judge how long and how much Co2 to pump into you grow area without some type of meter.
I think I paid like $200 for this meter off of Amazon.
It's well worth the investment.
It takes a little bit of tweaking here and there, but you'll get the hang of it.

I have a CAP CO2 meter that measures the levels once per second and opens or closes the valve........I think I paid right around $200........ I hooked it to a controller that keeps it from running when the exhaust runs...... I used 20# bottles...two per week for a 700 cu ft room...and only ran it 12 hours because bloom and grow were in the same room and bloom doesn't need it at night.

Forgive me as it's been a while since I looked it up........I want to say there's 20 cu ft to a lb, but I could be way off..... The calculator you used.......are you sure that isn't 1 cu ft per hour to raise it to the proper levels in a certain time??? Seems that was for 15 minutes, but again, it's been a while....... To reach and hold 1500 ppm, you really need the meter......how else do you know how much was used, vented, leaked?? If you give me a minute and want the info I'll try to find it for you for accuracy.......or you can look it up, it didn't take me long to find that and the conversion for lp gas as well.......

OK....according to what I found it says 8.7 cubic feet from 1 lb of dry ice........and hydrofarm says a 50# tank holds 440 cu ft........8.8...... At just under the 1 cu ft/hour rate a 20# tank will make it one week running 24/7....160 cu ft.

BongJuice and VidiotRay:

Thanks alot I appreciate your input and advice greatly.

As for a controller/monitor I was looking at C.A.P.'s Fuzzy Logic,
it claims to keep your desired level within 25ppm of the
range you have set at all times, or times desired.

So I guess I'll just get a 50lb tank, hopefully I dont have to fill it more then twice a
month!

thanks for your help again, I appreciate it

I would get 2 of the 20# tanks. The 50# tanks are too fucking heavy to move without a dolly. Plus you can exchange one while your garden is running the other one.

The 50lb tank definitely needs a dolly unless you are a)an NFL lineman b0 one strong mo fo and c) have no steps etween our door and our grow room.... humping a 50lb tank full down stairs would be a major evolution... no subltle and the neighbours are gonna notice... ou can sling in a 20 lb bottle after dark and it is no probs....

I have a 4x4x7 tent, and a 20lb. tank lasts me about 10 days (steady at 1500PPMs, and only run for 12 hours a day).

A 20lb. tank is gonna last you a little less then a week, methinks (assuming 12/12; if you're using CO2 for vegging as well, it'll last you only a few days).
