Buying used HPS bulbs....

Is there any way I can find out what condition the bulb is in before buying? I have a couple of 600 watt hps that I would like to buy but hesitant as they could be months or year old.

Should I get a light meter and have it measure the lumens? Any tips would be great.

You could get a light meter....or you could buy new bulbs. theres a thread on here showing how hortilux bulbs will actually grow a bigger plant then ultra sun.

Dont buy used is probably the best tip you can have, I found brand new sunmaster 600W bulbs on ebay for £15.00/$25.00.

Yea, but if they are Hortilux or Lumatek bulbs then its worth to get them at $40-$45 a bulb, right? Assuming they work and only been used for a month or 2.

X2 exactly !!! Bulbs are best in the first 6 months.

A light meter will probably cost a lot more than buying some new bulbs.

new bulb cheap ass... i replace my bulb every year if not sooner. you don't know how long they have had the bulb for. if money is tight tho.. used bulb is better than no bulb..feel me bro?
