hey guys im going to be buying 2 new 1000W ballasts and bulbs HPS, cost is not a issue, im going to be doing a verticle grow. I hear lumatek is 1 of the best but this is a fairly big purchase and i want some real reviews from real people. So let me know what ballast and bulb you think is best. thanks.

Hortilux Eye 1000 watt bulbs are definately the best and yield wise cannot be beat. I've heard great thing about lumatek but I have a fairly generic ballast and it works great just sucks a little more power.

Why do you think your generic ballast uses more power? A watt is a watt is a watt.

Sorry, I thought you had a generic digital ballast. You are correct, a magnetic ballast is not as efficient.

You will need to give us the dimensions of the room size, whacking 2 1000w in a room depending on the size will cause major heat issues even doing it vertical, although it would be a damn site warmer using shades, you will also needs some rucks fans probably in order to combat the heat given off, useless you use cool tubes and re-route the tube via extraction ducting?
Without the space size hard to say, the system you use also will also determine the weight produced also, strain, i assume you are going after weight given the bulb sizes, something to consider.

Great idea, theres alot of thread around here already that claim that hortilux is better then lumatek but another test wouldn't hurt.
im comparing the hortilux bulb with a solarmax bulb, and comparing phantom ballast to a lumatek. then after i compare ill switch the bulbs and use the 1 bulb on the other ballast and see.
