wooooooow thats harsh considering the fact that of 50 states only 15 have jumped on the medical wagon for cannabis and is still is not even close to being legal by the feds lets say if you where to cross into Michigan (being a medical card holder im assuming you are) and have your meds on you well hate to say it but you would be in the same boat this guy is. I dont understand how you can praise the medical community when marijuana consumption is frowned upon wither it be legal or illegal.

Up here in Canada the judge would probably throw it out and tell the cops to stop wasting the courts time.

Things are a little more strict in the States though I cannot see any judge throwing the book at you for a first offence. You'll most likely get some sort of probation with a conditional discharge attached to it. You're not a career criminal and are going to school. The courts like things like that and take that into account. No good will come from you going to jail. No one will benefit. I wouldn't worry too much about it to be honest, nor would I waste money on some big name attorney for 1 plant in the veg stage.

Mustn't the plant contain over 1% THC to be considered illegal in the USA? I hope the cops can prove that or else it'll be thrown out.

A good lawyer can get you off scott free. Depends on the situation, NO ONE can enter your place of residence without a warrant, no inspector, no police NO ONE. In the USA your landlord has to give 24 hour notice before coming over and entering the residence. Your roomie got punked by the inspector, you lose. You may be able to make the defense that since you were not there to grant permission to your things that the whole thing will go away. A good lawyer is your best bet. A shitty lawyer will have you plead and pay a fine and his fees. Shitty lawyers only care about payment, they hardly try to get you off.

Tough luck my friend but don't worry. It'll be probation for you at worst. But listen...make yourself look good. Judges don't like people that talk and look like idiots, so just look as upstanding a citizen as you can. Dress well, look good. Be clean cut. Talk with moderate confidence and accept that you broke the law. Don't whine or make too many excuses. A lot of people say to immediately go out and spend as much money as possible on a lawyer but I'm skeptical about that approach. Hiding behind a lawyer and/or making excuses and playing victim arrouses contempt in the court. And whomever said "you do the time you do the crime" needs to be kicked the fuck off this site for being such an asshole....but Karma is a bitch, it'll come back around. Maybe he needs to go be a cop. Don't listen to that crap. The marijuana culture is about love and freedom and UNDERSTANDING.

Dont say a fucking thing or go anywhere without a lawyer. A lawyer will be the difference between them giving you the max they can give and you getting a slap on the wrist and some comunity service.

dude dont stress, so long as you didnt have scales in the appartment and bags and lots of cash they can only do you for personal and for that they will fine you, give you a record etc, still pretty shit but could be a lot worse, do yourself a favour and get a med license
