Bushy plants

I’m in my 4th week of veg and plants look healthy...but they are bushy AF.
Maybe 12-18”

they just seem to be growing tight on itself with little to no space in the middle. Just new growth everywhere inside but not really upwards? Stems are also thick AF.

will flipping promote upward growth?

I have to keep pruning underneath because it’s so damn bushy.

I mean how do I get it up to a scrog net lol

Is it breed?
Led lights are equivalent to 1100HID and I had them at 24”....to close?

I did just lift the lights to 40” to promote some stretch....

I’ll post pics later

lift light as high as you can for a week, that will make them a bit more leggy. Ive got a white og that I clone from that does the same thing.

Gorillabilly is right on point. Make them stretch for the light. Every day strip the new lower growth if it is growing in a location you do not want it. The plant will redirect those hormones to other locations. I have some maui waui's that like to grow thicker in the middle of the plant than they do anywhere else. Some strains are like that and all you can do is be diligent and remind those bitches who's boss :)

I swear mine is doing the same thing like I have never seen before, I have grown for 40 years and still I can't remember a time when a plant is trying to out grow itself in a frenzy type way, Gorilla Cookies (GG4 X GSC) 6 plants but only one of the 6 is doing this, it's like trying to imagine 25 sumo wrestlers in a vw bug and a fire alarm goes off and they all have to get out of the car at the same time! it's crazy, not in a good way either, I'm trying to thin it out, making clones out of some of the small branches, it must have had some weird thing going off inside the seed (an extra hormone)? I'm just guessing.

If you grew from seed you will get different phenotypes occasionally depending on how stable the genetics are. Less stable genetics will produce many different phenotypes which is not desirable out of the same batch of seeds. Some will grow tall, some short, some bushy, some not, etc...That doesn't mean it's a bad strain by any means. You just got one that has a different personality :) Keep in mind that as you clone that particular plant all of your clones from that plant will have the same bushy attribute.

Yeah I know the clones will be like her motha but I plan on giving those away to people I don't like anyways, lol. out of about 600 seeds from last season I have only grown out about 12 this year so far, and yea they run the gambit of everything and in between. I do have 4 of the 6 right now that look amazing at 5 weeks old, the other 2 are slow growing but still look healthy. Thanks for your input

No, indoors. I used to grow outside but my new place is not plant friendly, the pests, everything from bud worms, gnats, gophers, ants, and occasionally the weird out of nowhere thunderstorm in the middle of late flowering, not good, so I moved indoors and never looked back.
I didn't sit there and count 600 seeds though, I did it the lazy way, I counted 50 and weighed it in grams, then weighed the full amount did the math and came up with 588 seeds, not all seeds weighed the exact same but were damn close enough.
