No, actually they work great, if you know how to cure.

1. Hang dry the whole plant with all the fan leaves off and sugar leaves still on. If you have a 2nd grow room or a grow tent, they work great for a slow dry... humidity and temps at 60-62. Hang time is 5-7 days, if all the stems snap you've over dried. I prefer 4-5 days hang time personally.
2. Put in a brown paper lunch bag and don't open it for 24 hours... After 24 hours, open bag and if they feel a bit too damp you can leave out to air dry for 1 hour before back in a new brown paper lunch bag... if it was too wet, open and change the bag twice a day. If it feels ok, you can rinse and repeat until stems snap, and then put in jars and follow a standard burping schedule of 1-2x a day.

I like taking the weed out of the jar. Dump it out. Inspect it. Put it back in jar. burped.
I don’t feel just opening a lid dose anything. You still got too moist or material touching each other in the bottom of the jar
