Burned?

I think I have been burned. I bought seeds through Weed-Seeds.net which was given a good reference at marijuanaseedbanks.com.

I ordered 10 seeds each of Northern Lights and master Kush and got 5 bonus seed of an indica variety. I planted 13 seeds which were a mix of the 3 types.
All the seeds sprouted well but I ended up with a very high proportion of males.
Of the 13 out of 13 that sprouted (I used pre-soaking in water method), I destroyed 2 that were growing outside (not enough light), 2 died before flowering, and I tossed 2 to lower the number of plants. Of the 7 I flowered, 6 were males. Even if the 2 I tossed were females, which I doubt, that ratio of males is still too high.

I took cuttings of the one female which was the bonus indica. It has large thick leaf segments on a small plant. I flowered the one mother plant while raising the cuttings under 18 hour cfl. Last week, I harvested a 4 inch bud from the mother and transplanted the cuttings to 5 gal. The buds have little or no resin on them (it is a very low bud odor plant). I smoked some of the dried bud for the first time yesterday and it is bunk. Now I am thinking of tossing the cuttings. For 3 months of my efforts and expenses I have nothing to show.

Lots of questions are in my mind and I am wondering if this is the dark side of femanized seeds or what.

Could it be this indica bud is medical marijuana type and has a "different" effect. I feel little or no effect of being stoned.

You should get good weed from feminized seeds. some hermie but usually it depends on the strain...

if it was 'medical' you'd know it, strong body hits like a ton of bricks
so that fem was just bad, though the reasons it was bad could be a number of causes
tough to judge definitively with one plant, not familiar with this breeder/bank

im hoping its not cultural. I had it on 400 watt metal halide then hps. flowered 3 weeks-month. Gave bloom nutes. The flowers looked fine and plentiful just no resin.

didn't notice this when i first read this post, 'flowered 3 weeks-month'
if that means you flowered for 3-4 weeks, you may not have to search further, that is likely not going to give you bud at its prime

yes flowering for a month would be the problem .. it was more than likely just starting to build resin glands .. try 2 months or more next time :)

Looks like you are correct.

I checked the name of the bonus seed. The bonus seeds are Mazar X Afgan strain(indica type).
The website gives the flowering time at 7-9 weeks.

I was going by the condition of the hairs. The top hairs closest to the light were all shriveled and brown, although the hairs along the sides were still mostly immature.

I am glad I didn t pull the clones yet.

Yes, my first indoor grow. In terms of growth, it went easier than I thought - though the Northern Lights didn't grow very well.

Stress them? Not that I know of.

Yeah man letting them go long always gives the plant the time to give her full power but some finish early but i perfer the amber hairs on the buds.
