Burned out!

I hear you this is my 10th year of doing this without a break so believe me I know exactly where you are coming from. It feels like you are chained to the grow and you are in a sense .. it's just part of the gig.

yesterday and the day before that was spent working cleaning glass on a bunch of magnum xxl hoods and fixing some leaks some needed to be re taped, etc. Then clean the walls with physan and the floors , then today most of the day was spent pressure washing flood tables and reservoirs. Next is pumps and whatever. the 2 weeks prior was spent doing a big harvest .

It is a job and somebody has to do it. Finally the op is clean and ready to fill. Then I can do the last transplant and I finally get a break for a couple weeks of maintenance of a few hours a day, then BAM I got another op ready to comedown and all that has to be repeated elsewhere.

This shit really can give somebody cabin fever, thats why I always like the name cabin fever ( the seed co.) << I know exactly where that is coming from.

I know of a lot of people who are serious grow hermits. When that happens it's not forever just stack the paper and the paper better be lookin right too this shit is a sacrifice and a commitment I don't care what anybody says, anybody who says different hasn't done it for very long or they do it on a small scale or they have plenty of helping hands making it a smaller task. If you run a decent size op and stretch yourself thin it is a big commitment thats just part of the gig.

Me personally I exercise that is the best thing I can think of + I was doing that anyways before I started. I am happy with that.

work. grow. stack paper. repeat. finally in a few more days I should be all caught up and on auto cycle with a little more free time at least for a few weeks .

I can think of a lot worse situations to be in , I consider myself lucky and I am happy with it, and anybody who doesn't like it fuck em nobody said they had to like it !

anyhow theres my rambling on the subject its only periodic but for the most part its a gravy job..
This hits home in so many ways Im speechless

Extrapolate, Silky. Rooted clone in a fridge with poor lighting? How long can you abandon them for?
take cuts like you normally do, maybe cut them a bit longer so you'll have room to cut again when you put them in cubes, or whatever you use. put them in a gallon ziplock bag, with a couple inches of water in it. make sure the cut ends stay under the water. blow the bag full of air and seal it. cuts will remain viable for a good month, and won't root. blow fresh air into the bag about once a week. i've never let them go for more than a month, but i hear tell you can go longer. it's kinda like suspended animation (stasis.) worked for me every time... the light going on and off doesn't seem to make any difference.

Don't get me wrong I like doing it its a great hobby. I've just been at this for several years without a break I just stay home all the time cooped up. Just wanted to know what do you guys do when or if you get burned out?
Take yourself off to a beautiful location somewhere, beach, hill with a great view. Something away from concrete. Take some beer, food, tunes hell -take some friends and sit around a fire into the small hours if you're not after peace!
Break your routine however you can man.
Think of something you've wanted to do, take a microlight flying lesson. Learn to surf, whatever floats your boat.
I've been where you are and quite often, it's us that limits what we do by being set in our ways.
Get out of your comfort zone dude, you don't have to get miles away for a long time to feel re-energised.

You got me thinking now my mother does flower arrangements and keeps cut flowers in the cooler. Seems like this could work. Sounds like I have a new experiment.

Im just comming back from a 6 month break in growing , i kept mommas going, emptied all 8 rez's & flipped the off switch & have been much happier .

If you cant shut down for fear of loosing customer base or lost weekly income do like i did , i put back a few lbs for friends & such so the important folk wouldnt run out .

If your burned out on the daily grind of growing your harvests & quality will suffer , an unhappy worker is a poor performer ,its best just to eat the cash loss & shut her down till you get your green thumb happy again .

After 6 months off im having fun again & when i have fun i get 3 to 4 zips per plant as oposed to 2 zips per plant when i hate growing.

Better off takin a break than putting out substandard product , customers come back quickly if product is top flight so no worries .

A lot of good suggestions here. I've been doing this for about 5 years full time, and it can get to be a grind. I find that there are a couple times per month that I'm able to take a quick 3 day vacation (not that I take them this often) with my kid or my girlfriend. It's usually someplace pretty local, within driving distance of half a day. I have gotten on a plane, but I found that is WAY too quick and most of the time is spent at the AP or traveling around, so that is rarely worth it. Rather stay at home if that's the case. But the local trips are fun, and it's surprising how refreshed I can be at the end of these. My kid wants to go to Europe with me for at least two weeks this summer before he goes to HS, and I'd really like to (I've never been). I don't know if I can swing this. I'd either need to shut down, or get some help, which would mean telling someone I grow, which isn't going to happen. There are sacrifices, but it is by far the best gig I've ever had...
