Bulkheads, uniseals, and grommets. Which is the right one.

So being an aquarium guy i know a good bit about bulkheads and uniseals, but i dont know alot of grommets. Bulkheads and uniseals are definitely better at sealing around the outside of a container or bucket, but their way more expensive, ranging in price from $3-7 depending on where you buy them. So im looking to cut cost alittle if possible. So can you guys tell me what your using on your DIY DWC set ups? And if your using uniseals or bulkheads where are you purchasing them from?

I built my 12 bucket flood drain system with the 1" grommets from Lowes.
Works great and cost around 190 bucks instead of 500.
No leaks at all.

Stay with the bulkheads and uniseals. How much is it worth to not have to suck up 20-50 gallons if something leaks?

Yeah I just order 4- 2" uniseals and 4-1"uniseals, shipped for $25. That site I linked to is the cheapest I've found... And I've been using uniseals for about 4-5 years now on my aquarium stuff. With that said though, i needed some now for my water level indicators, so I made use of some grommets that I had from another project, and they worked out fine, but I definitely trust the uniseals more, I have a 1" uniseal at bottom of a 50 gallon drum filled with RODI water. I've had that setup for about 2 yrs and not a drop of water spilt.

Thanks for the reply, aquatic Eco is more expensive than the site I offered from, especially on the 2" seals, they want $6 i paid like $2. But again thanks for the reply, and I'll be sure to check out other links as well.

Just dont like those added water level indicators. Make sure to cover them or algae will build up in them.
