Bulbs or a light board?

MH/HPS is the cheaper investment up front, you just pay more in bulbs and heat, not always a bad trade off though. And yeah, it is tough grabbing everything last minute instead of planning upfront, you'll find that applies to almost every hobby in life. You will also spend more doing things last minute.
Yea for real, literally everything has been pieced together, but the whole thing was fun as hell and I learned a lot. My next grow I have two thx snow kush and two more gorilla glues that I’m gonna set up under that 1000 watt. All in all I’m pretty proud of my first little solo cup freestyle Grow lol

Ok so a little update. I got the hps and all that but also just purchased 2 600 watt leds. How would I put two of them in a 3x3x63 tent for the best results? Just side by side?

just spread them out so that the light is even in the tent. Just make sure the lights are not to close to plants. it can burn them. I found with my LED lights that the further away the better they grow. To close caused fox tailing and can burn, be safe and keep them 18 to 24 inches and spread them out evenly and you should be fine.
Got any Pics ?

Good luck Bear420

Sorry for the late response, I’m still waiting for the 600 watts to come in so I’m still using my old set up which sucks but oh well. It gets greater later. i threw in some pics of the buds cuz although they are tiny and in solo cups it was my first grow and I’m in love with them

Sigh.

Cheap blurple LEDs are rather ineffective at bloom potentials.
"Full spectrum" LED boards are overpriced and way over the top on BS claims they make.
ANY LED that tells you they are delivering UV lighting to boost THC production......(so far everyone i looked at) is NOT delivering the right UV spectrum (in specific Nm bands). So your getting nothing for over a grand in cost?

HPS works deeper and you can grow larger, more potential reaching plants.

Even COB does not work to grow even a 6 ft plants.
Take a real look at the Commercial ops using COB LEDs. They have a dual level grow and run short plants.....Quality is perfect but #'s are high for those that may effect.

One day LED will hit it like an HID lamp. We just aren't there yet.

Where did anyone mention UV here? I couldn't find it.

I had 3 600 watt HPS lights and the Solar system 550 from Cali Light Works 2 of them only are growing better, deeper penetration better Trichomes, all around better Usually I agree with Dr. Who. But this time I have say your not right on this one. I am posting pics with my LED so Called Blurple Lights. I have to laugh because these lights are doing better than 3 600 watt Hps and I only have 2 solar system 550s. I did spend the money on them although I was skeptical at first I did it, and I can't be happier. More of everything with one less light.

Any reason you are running mostly “ solo cup “ grows ? .... I mean why try to run a 1000 watts on a few cups.?

1. Take all blurple panel claims of efficiency and ” actual power draw l with a big grain of salt. Especially off brands.
Most pull about a third of what they claim .

2. Led Boards ( Quantums / Spider farm / Mars sp 250 / etc ) work very well . Easy on the wallet for power , runs quiet , better components in build. Even some of the “ clone boards “ ( copies ) from Alibaba.com are doing well .

3. You have shallow medium ( in cup ) covered by pebbles. Why not just top off the cup with a full amount of medium ?
Wondering if you are running 12/12 on those cups with the buds you show .... that pole shaped grow is what happens with
12/12 from seed type growing.

Well I started with ten and said fuck it I don’t have the room so I only transplanted the most vigorous ones and boom these were the only females which is why they’re in solo cups. The extra watts are for the next grow and instead of just jumping right in since I work so much I wanted to make sure I knew how I was gonna do it. I also didn’t train top or anything with them. This first round was just so I could see with my own eyes how everything work. I could research all day and ask for advice all day only doing it will get me there.

here are just a few haven't had time to but i will get more pics.

Good Luck all :) I know one thing I am happy with these lights and my 150 less per month power bill
That last pic, where the tips are slightly brown. Is that from nite burn or is it getting ready to be done? A couple of mine started doing that but I’ve only been using regular water because its getting to be time to Cut em down.

Neither it's what happens when they mature, It's just the way that one always finishes. Some do some don't

I also run a rolling garden, and my room is made out of Cedar well both are.

SolarSystem® 550 Specifications

The SolarSystem features the latest generation high-efficiency LEDs as well as the most versatile control system on the market. This commercial indoor LED lighting system is perfect for a single light in a tent or several hundred lights in a large commercial operation.
Overcoming the limitations of high-intensity discharge lighting systems, the SolarSystem 550 LED grow light system offers programmable spectrum control over multiple wavelengths. It operates at a frequency of 50-60 Hz and draws a maximum current of 3.3A @ 120 V, 1.65 A @ 240 V. Power consumption ranges from 0-400 W, which is exceptional compared to traditional UVB grow lights.
In fact, our full spectrum horticulture LED lights are some of the most durable, energy efficient commercial LED grow lights on the market. Plus, this grow light system provides uniform lighting over a maximum bloom coverage area of 4 x 4 feet, and a vegetative coverage zone of 6 x 6 feet. Single users and users of commercial grow lights can benefit from a broad-spectrum system that supports photosynthesis and robust plant growth.
These large indoor LED grow lights are designed to improve yield and visual conditions, making it easy for growers to assess their crops in any environment. The SolarSystem 550 offers growers the following benefits:
  • Advanced LED Grow Light System
  • Replaces a 600 watt HPS with 40% Less Energy
  • Fully Programmable Spectrum Control*
  • Higher Yields and Better Quallty
  • Perfect for Propagation, Veg or Bloom
  • Never Needs Bulbs- Easy to Install
  • Perfect for small or large scale grows

How much does one of these cost?

i would invest in some better pots you will do better as well. Solo cups are for maybe the first week, then 1 gallon, then 3 gallon or 5 for the rest. But still impressive for solo cups. A 1000 watt hps will melt your cups in a grow box, you need less light for a box man

1000 w hps in a grow box will be way to much dude. unless your grow box is 5'x5'x78" lol
Yeah I’m gonna just use the leds. the solo cup thing is because I only transplanted the most vigorous ones and with my luck the only ones that were female were these ones. i only have 3x3x63 so I guess I definitely don’t need the hps I’ll just stick with the leds I ordered too

i would say if you want to go hps go with a dimmable 600w then if you want to use it in a bigger space you can crank it up but for your small area you could dial it down. Heat will be more of an issue then with LED but if you have the proper ventilation/intake/exhaust/circulation you could use a dimmable 600w for sure. That 1000 watter would be good for a 4x4 or 5x5 tent
