I recently purchased a Digilux.

I have yet to run it, and this is my first go around so I have nothing to compare it to. However, I purchased it from the shop you mentioned in the 'good places to shop' thread and they were the cheapest!

Hortilux for a magnetic ballast, Digilux for electronic one's. Phantom (Hydrofarm), Nextgen (Capp) and Quantum ballasts are the best IMHO.

I have all the above and i like the 600 w digilux so far but my 1000 w hortilux seem to be very good as well. If i were you i would go to amazon to buy them so you can save $$$$$

Eye Hortilux Super HPS, The only bulb I'll buy. I believe they're the best by far. The Hortilux Super 600 performs just as well as the general Phillips 1000 watt HPS as far as I can tell.

This is probably a dumb question but how do you tell if your ballast is digital or magnetic? I have 3 different ones.......

Example of a digital ballast (they do not have to be dimmable to be digital).

U should get a digilux bulb! Its the best in da business! U should get your 600w bulb @ plantlightinghydroponics.com if you didn't purchase one yet! Its only 60$$. That's hella cheap.. that's my two cents

I have always had great results with a Hortilux super hps in both my veg and flower rooms.

I have a switchable ballast for my veg room and decided to try a MH bulb. I bought a Sunmaster Cool Blue and had a very horrible experience with it. Once I replaced it with my old Hortilux, all the problems went away.

I called Sunmaster to see if they wanted to replace the bulb or give me a refund and they were not willing to help out in any way and insulted me by saying any problems I had were my own fault. I reminded them that I didn't have any problems before buying there product and I didn't have any problems immediately after replacing there product and they had no answer and were still not willing to help me in any way.

All the people Ive talked to around these parts suggest going with General Electric, at the electrical wholesaler they're about 18 bux CDN as opposed to the grow store brands which are around 55-70 bux. I'm not an expert by any means but Im using the GE and my plants are growing quite nicely, also you can replace 3 of them for the price of one of the grower brands...Im running a digital 400w ballast and no probs so far. Guess it boils down to budget and what knowledge you can gain from people with more experience, this is just my 2 cents worth. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Look up Ultra Sun bulbs if you want to save some money and not buy into the over-hyped bs. Especially if you use Galaxy digital ballasts.

Lovin' the digilux/digital ballast and hortilux/magnetic. I'm lovin' my results!
