Hi, everyone. Im looking for advice on how to set up the new room I am going to build. mostly I need help with the co2 how too's. first off the room will be roughly 10x6 with two 1000w hps lights. the lights are going to be in magnum xxxl hoods that are coolable. I plan on cooling the lights with air from outside the room and venting outside the room so the light setup will be totally sealed and not affect the enviroment. now does the air in the room ever need to be exchanged out with fresh air or can I keep it completely sealed? I would like to get a generating and a nice controller but I dont have the funds really for that right now. so would it be possible to inject co2 in this size room with one of the cheaper tank kits and do it efficiently? also with my lights being cooled and being able to run at higher temps in the room do you guys think that an ac unit will be necessary? thanks for all input in advance, hopefully someone with lots of experience with co2 can help me out.

If you have adequate ventilation with fresh air from outside the room, there is really no need for CO2.

It will mostly be a waste of $$$$ unless you are VERY experienced and have everything VERY dialed in.

Spend the $$$ on a good ventilation system to get plenty of fresh air in there and you will be fine.

i am pasting this from another thread i had posted on yesterday, like wet dog says if your an expert/proficient at using c02 it will only pay off and with certain conditions that you may have or not have control over

someone just mentioned temps, and he is correct, co2 should be used ONLY when you Must have a sealed room, now lets say your room is sealed you need to supplement the bare minimum of co2 because you dont have intake coming in, but co2 at 1500ppm is a waste of money only because a plant will not use elevated levels at normal grow room temps (72-78F) only at temps of 85F-95F (yes i just said it 95 degrees) will the plants utilize large doses of co2. so if you need to seal a room or your temps are out of control is when you should use it, if you have the option of running a traditional exhaust then that will be fine, anythng above 500ppm of co2 in the air is useless at temps under 85F. you know why plants slow down growth at high temps? the stomata closes, stomata is responsible for co2 intake, at temps of 85F with standard amounts of co2 that fresh air brings in will not be enough to keep the stomata open, now at high temps, higher doses of co2 will not only open the stomata but its like opening your nostrals and breathing thru an oxygen mask after running a marathon, optimal performance, this is the exact time that you will see better growth rates. i hope this helps
