I've been stressing myself about wanting to get a second cabinet so i can have a veg and a flower room (Cabinet).

I have been researching ideas and have finally figured out what im going to do.

Im going to buy a big white storage cabinet and separate it into two rooms (veg/flower).

The lights will be on 2 different timers so the top will be 12/12, and the bottom will be 18/6

This is the cabinet I'm getting.

Here are the fans I'm getting.

I will have be using the DIY Carbon filter setup going out of the top.

The lights will be put on fixtures that i can adjust the height accordingly to the plants.

The inside will either be left white or i will put mylar on the insides.

The 2 rooms will be separated and weather stripped to make sure no light leaks out into either grow space.

Here's a picture i drew up in paint......

What do you guys think?

+rep for advice/suggestions!

I'm using all cfl's because i don't want to deal with all the heat issues. I'll have plenty of them to suit the plants.

I use LED's but its more of a investment than anything for right now, I am a believer :)

How many CFL's you planning on?

I know that the veg will have 4 cfl's and 1 fluorescent tube, but I'm not sure how many or at what wattage the flower section will be.

Hey I use the same cab. It's gonna be way smaller then you think. You can't really have the shelf where it is in your plan The middle shelf is fixed and the top and bottom are adjustable on little nuts, but are not as deep as the cabinet. The fixed shelf height leaves about 26" at the top and 30" at the bottom. I ended up taking it out and using the whole cabinet as a flowering cab and am now looking for something shorter to use for veg. I am using a tiny DWC system and CFLs/150w HPS. With two 120MM 110CFM fans and a DIY carbon filter. Here's an overall pic. You can see more in my journal if you'd like. if you have any more questions about the cab, feel free to ask.

Here it is. I have to do a second coat of paint and that's about all I'm going to do. I didn't put the fluorescent tubes in the bottom veg space yet. The veg space probably has about a foot of room, so i hope it will work out. Everything is light tight and almost air tight. It has a fan and an exhaust going out to a carbon filter(homemade).

I see you used a different cabinet then initially posted. This one looks nice a lot bigger. Where'd you get it and how much?

I actually couldn't find anything that i was looking for cabinet wise. And to add to that, they were all around $250. So i quit looking and around Thursday I went to my fiance's house and her mom was hauling it out to throw away in the garbage as we were pulling in. So i got it for free which saved me a lot of money.

And i thought my mother-in-law was good for nothin......... :-P

Oh dude, that's a nice bit of luck there. I've been searching high and low for a good one coming into the same problems as well.

Time to raid all the thrift stores in my area.

YEAH! I raided all my local and semi-local thrift shops and had no luck. It seemed like every place i went to said that they had sold their only one like 5 minutes before i walked in. I was bummed that i couldn't get a decent cabinet but then i found one in the garbage.

You know what they say........ One man's trash is another man's treasure!

I also plan on buying a couple locks to put on it for security and to make it "almost" air tight.

I take an old cell phone charger and hook the wires up to it.
That sounds dangerous :P Do you have any experience with that kind of thing? Wouls you recommend someone without experience give it a go?
