Building a smell proof room for growing

@Beeswings

Just to see if i got it right:
Use carbon filter + exhaust in both flower tents
+
Use carbon filter + exhaust outside the tents

For the outside system it's 913ft³ do you think an 8in fan (600 CFM) with an 8in carbon filter (600 CFM) would handle the job ?

People adviced me to have an HEPA air purifier outside the grow space like in the living room of the apartment... I'm not familiar with this technology... Do you know this system ?

Sorry for so much questions my english is bad i've got a long time to understand what a scrubbler is, it's basically a exhaust fan plugged to a carbon filter to have the air circulation inside the grow room passing through it (not necessarily exhausting it to anywhere) just to filter and re-circulate the growing area right ?

Yeah that's what a scrubber is.
Its Recirculating the room air through a filter.

The first question is.

Is the an active air exchanged room /grow where the heat and humidity is removed from the apartment/ room ?

Or is it a sealed room where the humidity is controlled by dehumidifier and the heat managed by AC and added co2?

Because if its not the second one you will need to use that window to remove the heat.

That's fine and easy to do. You just build a box over the window and cut your hole in it to extract into, if you don't want people to know then you put a net cutmrtain or blind up to hide that..

For a smell proof room, use filters in all your tents and vent directly to the window.
That creates negative pressure in the room which means air only travels one direction.

Then add a scrubber to the room as a precaution.

I'd also have a dedicated harvest tent. Unless you can get inside your flower tents.

You will find that the smell will stick to you and your cloths and be transferred around your house if you've been working on the plants.

So I'd have cloths you wear or a coverall and gloves that stay in the room.

Personally speaking , my property doesn't smell.
But if I harvest in the room itself , no amount of scrubbing will stop the room smelling on that day, though it doesn't leave the room because there's negative pressure in there.

Hey Corey thx for answering! Well there's a window at the room but i was planning to have it closed with AC + dehumidifier. I've got a 8in fan (600 CFM) and a 8in VivoSun carbon filter to scrubble that's enough to make 35 full air changes in a hour. I'll have to look into CO² as i never used it before... But i don't think i can call that a sealed room right ?

The second option would be basically blowing out the air from the tents to outside the apartment right ? That would work too, but i still need to have the scrubbling system because whenever i open the tents to manage/water the plants the smell will go out right ?

The idea of having a tent for harvest/drying process is a good thing too.

8" inline fan connected to a variac and 40" x 8" filter sitting on a rubber mat to reduce vibration. I use two in a room a little bigger than your in a closed system. What size are the tents? you will also need fans for intake and exhaust. for each tent.

Do you live on the top floor or the basement? The scrubber Idea is what will work safely, I personally wouldn't risk cutting holes, plus you would have an easy take down and leave no trace in case you needed to move it quick for an inspection or water leak from above apartment. To many random variables for unnecessary risk.
I agree, I feel if you cut holes to vent it into the attic, that defeats the whole purpose because then you would just be pumping your dank smell to the nextdoor neighbors lol

The apartment is mine... So carbon filters on both tents and a carbon filter outside the tent just to filter the inside air of the grow room, is that right ?
Yep, sounds right. I'm looking into it as well because I am in the same position as you. I want to grow but just had to downgrade back to an apartment and this place location wise is nice, and also pretty quiet, but that is the problem... Nosey neighbors lol
They are like neighborhood watch. I went to go smoke a cigarette out at the curb one night and all of a sudden some lady comes walking out of a big bush blowing out a hit and putting her roach out and she goes "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't see ya there! They got me hiding in a bush to smoke my Doobie because I already had two complaints from neighbors about the smell when it's totally legal in this state!" I thought well so much for trying to grow anything here if this lady is getting snitched on over a dispensary pre-roll hahaha
