Is there any way to scrub the air coming out the back of the portable air conditioner before it exits to the outside, an ozone generator maybe?

yes I use an ozone gen and timed bathroom spayers and it works great. Carbon Filter is the best thing to use though for the inside of the room.

If it is a single hose unit then remember that no matter what, as long as it is running you will be loosing air from the room via the exaust hose (likely stinky air). you can have all your cool tube exaust and ac exaust running into a room/box that houses the carbon filter and the ballasts which will clean the ac air and also keep temps down. Also if you do not have an intake on the tent/room the ac will overheat. If you are running air cooled lights you can reduce the amount of btus by about 30% from what i have read. Also dont spend your $ on loft insulation Just use some Rmax and line it with ifared film if you are worried about the ghetto bird.[/QUOTE

Cool your lights!!! It will cut down the amount of time you have to run the ac.

I have ran my lights with the exhaust fan and without just the exhaust pulling cool air over the lights dropped the room temp 5 degrees. Add in a an exhaust fan sucking air out of the room and the temp drops a couple more degrees. Throw on the ac and you can get the room to be the coldest room in the house.

My room is sealed. I only run the room exhaust fan every couple hours to pull the humidity out of the room. I have another fan pulling air from a different room over my lights and then it exits out the attic and that runs as long as the lights are running.

This system keeps temps in check and let's me blow co2 in the room without worrying about sucking it all out through the carbon filter.
