Building a grow box from a wardrobe cabinet

This will be our first grow. We have a wardrobe cabinet, complete with locks and casters on the bottom, which measures 6' tall, 3' wide and 2.5' deep. The plan is to install a 110 CFM bathroom exhaust fan in the top portion of the cabinet, ducting it out the back. I will drill on the bottom of each side 1.5", totaling a 3" total air intake and accounting for the 4" exhaust output. There will be a light ballast, hung from an adjustable chain pulley and containing a 100W CFL to start with. As we go, we plan to add lights to the sides and corners and even want to shine light up from the bottom as we have heard this will increase yield in some cases. A few questions I would like to pose and look forward to tapping into the vast wealth of knowledge contained on this site........

  1. Is it best to have your lights, etc.. connected outside the cabinet or is it better to run your power strip(s) into the cabinet and then connect power on the inside?
  2. If you look inside, we are planning to use the left chamber for the main grow and the right chamber for clones. I'm wondering if we should remove any of the shelves on the right side? Also, should I cut a nice, maybe 2" hole in the back corner of each sh
elf to aid in air flow throughout the cabinet?
  1. What is the recommended height for the bulb to be above the plant?
Thanks again for the advice! :joint:
