Sticky traps for flies/knats. I'm sure there's some spray or something you can buy, but sticky traps work for me. They have ones that attract the flies too.

Wow, i cant belive that noone has responded to this yet. Theyre all posting on other important threads like, "Is weed growing addicting", soo gay. Anyway, you can use neem oil for most insects. Also gognats for fungus knats. Suphur burner for powdery mildew. And i think schults 3-1 fungicide or something. Check on the schultz thing tho. If youre using Mychorazae fungi it might kill the fungi and you dont want that.

I use a no pest strip. Just hang it in your grow area and let it work it's magic. I really have no idea how effective they are but I have had ZERO bug issues since I started using one. They are made by Hot Shot and cost about 5 bucks for 3-4 months of service. I think they are for small areas like 8 X 10. Anything smaller and they work great.

overwatering causes fungus gnats. Let the soil completely dry before each watering, put a couple inches of sand on top of the soil and get some pest strips and you'll be fine.

i would spray rather than gamble on not having any probs like everyone seems to want you to. Just cuz they dont get pest dosnt mean you wont. I would spray with neem or somthing dude. Its your choice.

fungus gnats come from the soil, the neem oil isn't good for the roots. If you stop overwatering the problem will go away.

I say get some gognats or gnatrol and you could be sure that the gnats are gone and wont come back. Or you could just sprinkle some sand on your soil and pray.

Prophet it is really simple to cure fungus gnats without pesticides. Sand is a proven method of stopping gnats. There is no need to be a douchebag!

I have/had the same problem. Sprays do not do shit but burn your leaves and give you false hopes.

Neem oil does work an it costs about $10 at a hydroponic store for a small bottle.

but for the sand method, and the over watering comment...

I've never heard of the sand method and I'm interested on how that would actually work.

And for over watering there's no way that causes fungus gnats because I'll admit yes there were times i havent completely had dry soil and watered but for the many times i did. I still have gnats.

also, there called fungus gnats for a reason. They feed off the bacteria in the dirt. You as the grower didnt cause the gnat problem (literally anyway). You most likely used cheap dirt or miracle grow and those brands of dirt carry eggs in them off different breeds. (ex. spider mites, gnats, whatever)

But for the future. Try using fox farms. It is a little expensive but i've heard nothing but good things about it.

Black Gold was on sale today, and although I didn't need it, I bought some anyway. Shheeeeet... 7 bucks? Can't pass that up.

Use the sticky traps. I've got gnats too, sticky traps work best for me.

i still say spray. You can protect yourself from one kind of insect by putting sand on the soil but what about the 20 or so other kinds of insects that love to fuck up your girls when they find them. With sand you're just gambling on bugs not finding your plants. If you spray then when they come around they wont even bother your girls, so you wont ever even have to worry about seeing gnats or having to buy bags full of sand. Messy.

I think for some reason ganja baby wants her method to be the correct one so bad that she is willing to sell it to you as the "best idea" when clearly if you want to avoid all kinds of bugs altogether you should just spray. She will probably post here again and tell you why sand will cure aids and somehow get clean water to the poor, but don't listen to her, she just wants you to dump a bunch of sand on your girlies and get your grow op all nasty looking. Feel free to do it. but i would def spray your plants so you can take all the "wondering" out of the equation.
