Bugs in my harvest!

Hi, I've recently completed a successful outdoor grow in Spain. I've recently harvested and am at the curing (and smoking!) stage. When I harvested I noticed a lot of little white dots on parts of some the buds. I ran my finger over one section and looked at my finger to find one of the little white dots was actually wiggling, although I can't see them moving on the plant itself. They're so small I'm having trouble getting a picture good enough to show. I've looked at pictures of fungus gnats online, and these seem smaller and more round/triangular shaped than the maggot looking larvae of the fungus gnat.

Today I went to burp my buds, and there were three or four pretty big flies in there. They looked bigger than any gnat I've ever seen and had kind of black and white striped bodies. I'd say they were nearly 5mm long. In my panic and disgust I just got them out of there instead of taking pictures first. If they've come from the white dots, quite frankly I'm amazed as there was nothing in there when I took the buds out to breath yesterday, and the jar has been sealed for about 20 hours.

Anyone got any ideas what's going on, and should I be worried about smoking my harvest? Thanks a lot!

I am not sure what the insects are but I might have an idea of how to kill them all. Seal the buds in an airtight container with some 91% rubbing alcohol (don't let the buds touch the alcohol but keep them suspended above on a rack or something). The fumes will displace the oxygen and kill all the critters. I believe once the buds have aired out again the alcohol smell will be gone - although I cannot guarantee this as I have not personally tried this method, but it makes logical sense to me.

Hi, thanks for the reply! Has anyone ever heard of wasps laying eggs in the buds? I saw a small black and white wasp on my laptop a minute ago, right next to where all the buds where airing and I just found a cocoon skin inside one of the buds when I tore it up to smoke... It's really starting to gross me out!!! I've looked online and I'm struggling to find out what this is. Next time I see something I'll get a picture for sure, but it's like some sort of high times horror movie and generally my first though is "GTFO!" rather than "Ooh, I really should remain calm and take a photo."
