Bugs in a ready to harvest plant! :(

Hi there!

Im very excited, cause after almost a year, my plants are almost ready to harvest. This being the very first time I grow seriously. Its all been outdoors, on good old fancy soil.

First plant is ready to go down. Hairs are mostly amber. And then while making a routine check on the buds, I discovered that Thrips are back into those little sugar leafs.

I had a little Thrips problem before, and the guy on the local growshop gave me this plant insecticide that was meant to use with fruit plants and such. It worked fine back then, and the thrips left my garden. Until now!

I would spray again my big firs gitl, but the directions specify not to use the insecticide 10 days in advance of the consumption of the plants. And since I was about to take down the big girl, I thought of asking the comunity before doing anything stupid. I'll spray the other plants since they still got enough time to get rid of the pests before harvest. But what should I do with this one?

I think I can wait up to a week before harvesting, but Im pushing the limits, she looks ready to go! Maybe I should just cut her down and the thrips may die while drying/curing... right?

Any imput would be very apretiated.
cheers! :leaf:

Dont spray anything. They will vacate the plant once its chopped down. Spray now and you will be contaminating your weed. What you could do is hit it with the water hose if you can. That might help.

Thanks for your response. Do you mean I should spray the plant with the water hose to scare the bugs out, prior to chop her down? Is it ok to cut down the plant while still wet?

Thanks for your help

Im guessing he means drizzle water over the buds to "wash" away the thrips...then cut the stalk. Dunno about this, not a fan of extra watery buds...more chance for bud mold to occur...and you though thrips were bad!

I've been told not to worry, since most likely the Thrips will abandon the plant once its cuted and drying.

I would be a little scared to water the plant prior to cut her down. This city is very humid already, mold could appear easyly.

Thanks everyone
