Buds seem small for week 6

Hey there,

First time grower here. Decided to plant a random seed I found and here we are a few months later. No idea if it’s indica or sativa but wider leaves suggest indica to me. In week 6 of flowering and buds are still looking a bit small. It actually seems like the bottom half of the plant is in an earlier flowering stage than the tops of the colas. Did I do something wrong here? I imagine it’s too late to fix it in any event.

Also, I’m starting to see the start of some considerable yellowing along the midsection of the plant. Does this mean I’m close to harvest and should start flushing, or is this a nutrient deficiency? Already tested soil PH, it’s at a clean 6.0. Giving it 2-8-4 with each watering. Any advice would be great! Thanks a ton.

For 6-weeks of flowering, it's, uh, "sub-optimal".

Best guess: the plant as a whole, and the buds as well, are small because of insufficient lighting.

Not much to do other than nurse it to the finish line.

I'd highly recommend getting a decent grow light next time if you're gonna invest the time and effort.

Makes sense. Got the lights early in the process when I didn't even have a grow tent and was definitely learning as I went. Didn't even realize it could be a lighting issue, but looking back, these don't seem nearly powerful enough to sustain a whole plant like this. https://brite-labs.com/products/saber-trio. I'll make sure to have much better lights on the next go. Thanks for the help.

Watch the deals thread....I just got a 300 watt LED for like $65 a few weeks ago. You can find a decent light for 1-2 plants for $100. The one you have is meant for supplemental along with sun. You did good considering.

Are you 6 weeks from bunchup or 6 weeks from flip? If from flip there actually 4 weeks Into flower as it takes about 2 weeks to go from veg to flower after flip. Def not enough light on them like @Billy the Mountain said. But if you start d counting on flip day then you got some makeup time. Download a lux meter for your phone and get your canopy to at least 30k lux, just keep it under like 65k lux. Just remember if your canopy is getting 30k lux 4" down is getting like 10.

Yikes. I came damn near making that same mistake when I was throwing my first grow together on whim and a $300 budget. With any light you buy, you're gonna wanna pay REALLY close attention to this part of their details:

Wattage matters in a big way. If you've got $50-$100 to play with, it may not be too late to grab something better and see if she rallies going into the finish. Everyone seems to have their magic number as to wattage per square foot of floor space, but before I could afford decent lighting I got by on 25 watts/^2 foot with perfectly decent results.

7-ish weeks from flip, took about a week from the start of flip to see the first long pistils. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah it hurt to go back and see that number. Totally didn't even care to check when I first got it. I learned a lot in a short period of time. I'll definitely order a better light and see if I can squeeze something extra out of this plant in these last few weeks.

As billy said more light is needed!

Also what have your temps been? Best to keep around 68-72 at night and around 75-80f during daylight.

You’ll still get some smoke off it at least :)
