Bud too dry to be cured properly?

i recently had a very scrawny homegrown sativa dominant strain given to me because the guy said he didn't want it because it wasn't worth trimming. I told him I'd take it off his hands cuz I feel every plant deserves a chance but when he gave it to me all the fan leaves were brown and curled, some of the buds even started to turn brown but I just tossed them aside. Now the reason I ask is because they have been curing in a jar for almost 2 weeks and no moisture has accumulated on the lid like they normally would and the buds smell kinda grassy or hay like with a very fain hint of skunkyness to them. I feel like they may have been too dry to get that nice taste and aroma when I trimmed them but I have no idea cuz it never waited this long to trim a plant. Any input would be great.

Would that bring moisture back in them? I thought that would dry them more.
Yes, putting your bud into paper bags will allow them to dry more. You can get a hygrometer at any pet store for about $5, put one in the jar or paper bag (top of bag folded over) with your buds and determine the RH of air inside. If after an hour it reads below 55%, there's nothing you can do to re-start curing. A Boveda pack will increase the moisture content if it's overly dry, but it WILL NOT allow curing to start once the bud has been overly dried.

Those buds look like they're tiny and very immature and would have dried very quickly. You probably won't get much smell even with a perfect cure, unfortunately, but you can still give it a try.

Yeah I'll just deal with the odd smell, maybe mix it with some of my better chronic :p but it smokes pretty nice for a half ounce of free herb.
