bud maturity question

20% amber is about time to pill

i was wondering what would the bud be like it you let it be 80% amber. would the bud still get you stoned as it would have more cbd vs thc

i am starting to get anxiety attack when smoking so i was wondering is that due to less mature weed or too mature and or just could be the strain

it is not a consistent thing but i do get it often enough to not like it and would like to know why its happening

Amber means THC is breaking down to CBN not CBD. CBN promotes sleep and adds to the 'couch lock' effect common with many Indica strains.

I used to grow Kali Mist that is a very sativa dominant strain and if I had just a bit too much I'd have an anxiety attack for about 15 min then it was fine tho very heady. Worked great for my depression tho.

I crossed it with NL#5 to add some indica to the mix and the right pheno works just as well without the anxiety. Going to cross that cross with a high CBD plant and hopefully end up with one that takes care of my arthritis too.

I can never seem to get amber so pick when most are cloudy but still a lot clear. They can go amber sitting in a jar. Really nice after a year or more.

so if i prefer the sleepy couch lock a indict dominant strain that is what i should be smoking and the more amber will promote them affects. is there a point where i plant will stop maturing and just start degrading past the point of smokeable. i guess at that point you run the risk of the plant turning seedy or chucking pollen??

Most indicas already have more narcotic effect than sativas so when most trichs are cloudy it'll still have that effect. Trichs continue to degrade and amber after harvest so tying up the grow room waiting for it to happen under the lights just wastes power and time that new plants could be growing in there.

Spread the buds out in the sun to degrade them faster if that's the end goal.

Trichs begin falling off the buds if left too long too and that's not a good thing.

i see well that explains why people say harvest @ or just before 20% amber. thanks for that info . i will start paying more attention to trichs over anything else

I generally harvest in stages. I'll take all the ripest large colas first and then give the lower ones 10 - 14 days to ripen up and get quite a bit bigger before taking the rest. I only take as much as I can do in an hour or so so they are nice and plump then bust up the colas and trim all the sugar leaves off into single buds and put in doubled paper bags to slo-dry in the cool basement for about 3 weeks or more before jarring to burp for another month. Gives a real smooth smoke.

I’ve also generally do 2 harvest of my plants, especially my outdoors they can go three if they get big enough. I tend to find some buds need a week longer and I like to see if there is a major difference in the high.

A longer cure helps to alleviate those effects I've heard. I think I might actually agree now that I've been smoking mine as it continues to cure. It's now been curing for about 4 months, and it just keeps getting better.

i have consider harvesting in stages. i normally just chop and hang the entire plant and dry it in my veg room while i put my veg plants in flower room. its the only way i can have plant smells going though my carbon filters . i find in leaving the entire plant hole helps dry slowly.

ive grow many a plants but haven't looked in to the real drying process and optimal harvest times ect for best results.

its making the weed last 4 months that's the problem. i use to keep batches of weed from different grows and i use to think the old stored weed was better then the fresh

100X Pocket Jewelry Magnifier Pen from ebay for like 8$ is it junk or do they work for checking trichomes

i have a 30x and it isnt good enough to tell

I heard somewhere that leaving the bud on the plant to long can result in throwing nanners as a last ditch attempt to pollinate itself before it dies but I have never actually had it happen so idk if it’s true

It's true alright. That's one way to get pollen to make fem seeds with. Not all plants will do that but it is survival trait all cannabis has. Some more than others ergo hermie plants.

When a plant does that early in flowering it is an undesirable trait as it can knock up all the girls in the room and there goes potency and yield. Years ago a buddy gave me a couple hundred afghani kush seeds from a grow that had a hermie pollinate the room. I sprouted 40 seeds and as they flowered later I weened out any that grew balls in flower and used a couple good males to pollinate select females. Just some buds on lower branches. A couple of the females grew some balls before they were done so any seeds from them got tossed and I only kept ones from those that went all the way without. Plants grown from those seeds were predominately female and none hermied. I had sent seeds to a few buddies and they had no problems either. Great yields but the buzz wasn't to my liking so I never bothered growing them after that.

Males can grow female flowers too and I've had a few of those over the years.

Hmm very interesting thanks for the comment it was very informative, I love this place it’s like the information highway I learn so much here every single day and now hopefully I won’t have to go though anything bad when growing and new techniques to help me be a better grower all with the awareness of it instead of personally going through it

No need for thanx. The bill is in the mail. ;)

Lots of good reading material in the following link.

I found a great spot to download FREE POT BOOKS . I downloaded a grow bible first and got lots more. Books look great and complete like the real ones I have here. No web site but just a page of links. Just right click on what you want and then "Save Link As" to download so they don't open first as many are 50+ megs. They got lots. Enjoy.
